Right here we go!

In the red corner fresh from three consecutive victories in the NZ-based Wainuiomata Punter of the Year (won narrowly from his grand daughter and the blind bloke next door), believed to be a distant relation of one of Australia's greatest training dynasties -  PETERF!

In the blue corner, rmoured to have cut his punting teeth in the UK (a claim he vehemently denies), the man who recently discovered horses have two ends and that it is the end with the teeth that has to get to the line first - FIREZUKI!

The rules:

1) Three picks each Saturday at any metropolitan course in Australia plus Melbourne Cup
2) Contest ends on final day of the Melbourne Cup carnival
3) Imaginary $10 each way placed on each runner at Tatts odds
4) Winner gets bragging rights
5) Entries must be posted half an hour before the start of the first race in which a horse in selected

Let the contest begin!

I'm guessing we're both waiting to see what the track will bring.  I'll place my picks tomorrow.
No doubt you'll be doing the same.
I'm feeling the pressure ..  sweat

I'm tempted to tip Black Caviar just to hopefully get a winner.  I'm saying hopefully so I don't jinx her.

MR6 Horse 5 Toorak Toff
MR7 Horse 9 Platinum Passion
MR8 Horse 10 Anudjawun

So it comes down to this.  East versus West.  Bro versus Cuz.  Old and Fat verses Damned Good Looking.
See you tomorrow Kiwi.

Well, well, well.......the competition is over and there is but one winnmer. In the words of my distant cousin Richard Freedman, FZ had his pants pulled down. Not a pretty thought, all that belly hair and knobby bits!

In his final three picks FZ got his usual nothing. By stark comparison, I labelled a winner, a 3rd and a 4th.

He's Remarkable: WON  $4.60 and $1.90 =  $65.00
Skyerush: 3rd  $1.70= $17.00

Total for round: $82.00

Overall totals:

Peterf     $349.00
Firezuki: $141.00

This mammoth and historic achievement gives me full bragging rights for ever more. I will,  however, forgo those rights in return for a bottle of Scotch delivered to me before my birthday in two weeks time. That means a decent sized bottle, not a miniature.

If you are interested in bribing me, Cuz, let me know and I will send you my address.

I had a bottle of Benedictine left in the cab last night.  How does that sound?
Congrats Kiwi.  I came out of the gates like a startled rabbit, but, like the rest of the Australian breeding stock, I fell in a big hole
at about the 1000m post.  Surely you must have some French blood somewhere?
I look forward to next year or whenever Glass Harmonium resumes racing.

In the words of my extremely distant cousin Captain Cook, "Up yours, Kiwi."

Completely unopened and in a little paper carrier case.  Dom 1510.  700ml.
Never tried it before.  Yours if you want it.  To the winner the spoils.
But don't think I'm going to put out or anything.
