Foum member "Vadim" has a share in this good looking colt Beckon, which won on  debut yesterday at Echuca.

Group 1 winner Headway gave early warning of Charge Forward's liking for mares by Flying Spur, and today her full brother repeated the message with a six-length debut win at Echuca.

Like his sister, 3YO colt Beckon was bred by Stuart Ramsey at Turangga Farm from Chatelaine, a three-time winner and twice Group-placed in Sydney. Trainer Peter Moody paid $500,000 at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for Beckon who races in the colours made famous by Makybe Diva for Makybe Racing & Breeding Pty Ltd, Laurel Oak Light Brigade, Mr D M Puglisi, Eales Racing Pty Ltd, Mr A G Charlton, Mr J W Purchase and Mr B W Harry.

The Charge Forward/Flying Spur cross has now produced five winners from nine runners, including Headway and the Group 1-placed 2YO stakeswinner Fort Lincoln.

As a grandson of Roberto from a Bletchingly mare, Charge Forward offers a potent outcross for mares laden with Northern Dancer. And he's already the sire of ten stakes performers from 133 runners.

Good luck with him for the future mate..( gee that B.Harry can find a winner).  biggrin

Don't think we need to go the early crow but encouraging nevertheless.

PM has been very patient with him and will monitor him over the next few days to determine his schedule.

Mono you are right about B Harry. However, I am more than chuffed to be enjoying the experience with another long term business acquaintance..

I watched the race with PM's mum and an ole racing sparring partner (courtesy of the BRC executive). It seems my sparring partner and I (both resident in Queensland) ended up with a horse in the same race in Echuca of all places.

Thanks to the Cleveland Mafia for their support.

I live in Thornlands, does this mafia ever get to the Sands for a drink, or a they more likely found at the Grand View?

Good luck with the horse Vadim.

Vadim will be in NZ to watch  the world cup final while his unbeaten Beckon will be competing at Moonee Valley.

Should be a good test with Karuta Queen in the race.

Best of luck mate.

chalky, don't be misled.  You would not want to swap your life with vadim . nowink

For a start, he's a Kiwi.  Now no one can chose their birthplace, but....there are things one can do to minimise the consequences.  Not once has he made any attempt to become a real Aussie.  nowink

In general, he lives in the shady world of the southbank of Brisbane.  I expect you realise he's head of one of Brisbane's largest and most influential mafioso chapters.  Never seen during the week, but emerges on Saturdays when he knows the authorities are less active.

He had no choice but to live on the waterfront, with a jetski moored out front to take him to the mafia mother-ship moored off Cleveland.

Not that he knows this - but I see him arrive at the racetrack in a car with false number plates.  Everyone knows he's "vadim", but he's got some other personalised plates on as a blind.  He can't park with the members at large, needing to be right near the gate, ready for a quick getaway.

Sure, he owns numerous horses.  But he wouldn't be the first gangster to use racing as a diversion.  Remember Eskimo Prince?

I note he's been making it clear that he's going to NZ, ostensibly to watch a brawl on the weekend.   But, I would wager that there'll be some sort of mafia meeting he'll be attending.
