It's interesting race, he was impressive not only in terms of his ability but having smarts and being able to cope with things going against him [bit slow out - pressured in front].  All stands him in good stead here, it does have potential to be race with more runners, bit of rough and tumble if he draws wide - perhaps he'll scare them off.

Always tough for the 3yo's against the higher grade.

Is Sepoy seriously nominated?

This doesn't seem to fit into the rest of his career path so far.

Agree - seems a very weird/random race for him to be running in.

No I've worked it out all right why our "best" sprinters are running around in average Group 2 races over short distances and with favourable weight conditions...have you?  wink

Black Caviar keeps dodging Vain and Manikato in those weekly Group 1 handicap sprints.

She dogged it when she won the Newmarket, Lightning and the TJ Smith. She let all those bigger races go, that were on at the same time. Soft.

They wanted to start her in a 1000m race, like they have every prep. And she didn't go to that Group One handicap 1000m test against all those champions.

And now she has the audacity to target the Patinack during the Flemington Carnival. The Patinack? What type of race is that? Way too much in her favour. She should stop being so good so she can be tested. That would prove that she actually is good. Because right now she is winning our major sprints way too easily. Even that bloke, rated the 3rd best sprinter in the world, who she kept destroying last prep, wasn't testing her enough.

She is soft. No good and a dodger.

Now I think that's a bit harsh cal.

A valid question to ask is why "Phar Lap" isn't aiming toward the Myer Classic or the George Adams? They seem to be hellbent on winning any vialable soft targets. I'm just not seeing any achievement. The Newmarket win was pretty good, but apart from that, there are no real standouts in the record.

Apache Cat and Takeover Target attained greater achievements than her because they had a go. Sure they got beat in some, but that is because they took on far more risk than BC. Even Vain raced in the George Adams. She is just going around against Group 2 horses over speedy squib distances, and everyone's expected to go "oooohhh" on cue to the marketers.

I reckon it is time for connections to take on a bit more risk before she moves beyond the category of "meat pie" champion. I see the marketers will be comparing her to Bernborough and Carbine on the next (soft) target.  What about when she gets up to Picnic In The Park. Are we going to have a "Black Caviar vs. Picnic In The Park" photo collage? Probably more apt than BC v Phar Lap.

My humble opinion
