This youngster looks to have a bright future graduating to City class on Saturday and came over very well in the post race interview I saw.
His winner Al's Gold @$14 put the writing on the wall at Rosehill when came from last to run a fast finishing fifth put him on horses to watch and he's won two in a row since.

Should start keeping track of his stats of claiming three on leaders.

Chad has a great riding style and the horses just seem to run for him. He is tiny and still building up his strenght - he will make one great jockey if he keeps it up! Also how well does he speak on camera!

I think he's going to be the best apprentice since the Gauch if he stays healthy and focused.

I seem to remember one judge on here saying, early days, that he's lucky to stay on a horse.

Speaking of jockeys that are lucky to stay on a horse, where's Mitch Beadman these days?

Thanks, Toltrice.
Amazing you should answer my question, only yesterday I found an old Turf Monthly annual 1984 and read a great story re John Hawkes, and Toltrice was the first good horse he got hold of as a trainer.
He kicked off training in 1972 when he was 23

I think everyone is putting far to much pressure on this Kid and the expectations and opinions are getting to the point of ridiculous, he is a very promising kid but a bloody long way from being compared to Malcolm Johnston(at his peak as an apprentice) like some are trying to say, the assumption is that he has come a long way in a short time and the expectation is that that rate of improvement will continue, that is very unfair on young Chad and quite unrealistic, he hasn't come as far as some would want you to believe, don't forget he has had a walk up start before he started, he was light years in front of 99% of other young kids who have a similar amount of experience, he has his Dad(one of Australia's best) putting him under the microscope 24/7, young Chad's second greatest asset is his knowledge of what he doesn't know, by that I mean he is obviously is a very good listener and soaks up all the advice and mentoring he get's from his Dad, he is very Good of that there is no doubt but compare apples with apples,
Young Beadman may have been in a similar position ability wise, I am not sure what went wrong but his Dad's greed would not have helped(Darren moving to Hong Kong when Mitch needed him here) now maybe Mitch wasn't a good student either, they obviously don't have the same relationship as the Schofields, not that it is anyone's fault, hormones in young kids can make some uncontrollable, what ever?? Mitch certainl had the ability to go a lot further than he did I think we expect far to much from young kids these days, they get squillions of Dollars when they are still kids, they don't think they need their parents support(emotionally or financially) it is so easy for them to go off the rails, that is probably Chads strengths, so far he knows his limitations, most men don't know their limitations, is it any wonder 17/18 year olds think they are 10 feet tall and Bullet proof??

Chad rode a winner for gai on wednesday, and she puts the apprentice on the better chance sometimes instead of nash, He has earnt more then the average wage and the seasons not even half way through because hes got that connection with his dad. but hes proven himself against the top jockeys already, hype it up mediamore racing heros means more bums on seats .
