Its been mentioned before that some trainers do deals with breeders when spending other peoples money, ie i give my trainer $50,000 to buy me a yearling. He then goes to a stud who only expects $20,000 and does a deal bidding the horse up to $50,000. The deal is the stud has received an extra $30,000 and gives the trainer a backhander of say $15,000. This practice is so wrong that a trainer who is guilty of such should loose their licence to train IMO.
Would racing NSW get involved in a case like this or will they say this is none of our buisness its a civil matter.
How can we promote an industry with such practices ?

Is this such a case below where a multi has been cheated and ripped off ?

hr
BILLIONAIRE Nathan Tinkler and leading trainer Anthony Cummings are on the cusp of settling a multi-million dollar legal wrangle.

Cummings, son of Cups King Bart, said he expected the Supreme Court case to be settled before the case is due to go to court on Monday.

Tinkler sued Cummings for allegedly receiving at least $483,000 in "secret" commissions from some of the nation's biggest breeders, who sold horses at auctions throughout 2008.

He initially alleged Cummings received $2.3 million in illegal commissions but later revised the figure down.

Cummings, who bought and trained horses for Tinkler at the time, counter-sued.

Legal expenses is estimated at $1 million on each side.

Cummings said at Caulfield today that a statement would be made today or tomorrow regarding the potential settlement.

Welcome to the real world

it may well be but if we want racing to survive these are the sort of practices that need to be stamped out. Dont worry theres many potential top owners who have been lost to the sport through such practices.

I agree totally. However, tell me how you can legislate to ensure it doesn't occur.

It may well be hard to enforce but make the consequences such that if you are caught you will never  work in the industry again.

Make it clear that the practice is highly illegal. No legislation ensures an activity does not happen again.

The bloke in question should never have been forgiven for his implantation's of 15 years ago or whenever.

true mate if you have the experience, but the game should be about employing your trainer to provide the services they offer with honesty.

I can't see anything wrong with the current practice.
