KCN

By Fastnet Rock out of Zabeel mare Regard. Atlantic Jewel is the first foal to race for Regard, who had 3 starts for 2 wins and a second. Regard was a daughter of Nanshan, a Nashwan mare with nothing special to report in the seven fillies she produced. Died this year at Emirates. The dam of Nanshan was Pass The Peace who produced UK G1 winner Embassy.

AJ was sold by Vinery for $340k at the 2010 MM premier sales (a Commands half sister was sold for $205k this year - good luck to them!).

Stakes or Principal Race Wins
Year Race Name Status Distance
2011 MRC One Thousand Guineas G1 1600m
2011   VRC Wakeful Stks G2 2000m

I hope they have a go at the Cox Plate and Oaks.

We seem to have so many "cotton wool" champions these days looking for the easiest targets they can find, and taking on little or no risk.

Great to see it being talked about a filly trying to emulate the feats of that fantastic filly Surround.

Even if they don't succeed, all plaudits for "having a go"  Thumb Up

agree completely , prob not heaps of point in the oaks , but cox plate on a giving surface - the racenet story said Aiden was impressed by the performance - think it might be Kav's last spring with this filly  slaphead

PP, you're pushing your luck with this thread on the main page - but she might win something BIG, so for now it's safe.

I seriously doubt they will run.
She is in Surround's class yet, Streama has been beating the same horses just as easily.

Can't emulate the feats of Surround, hasn't even raced the boys, let alone beaten them yet.

I have no doubt she is in the class of Surround but I hope they go for the Empire Rose.

Taking on More Joyous at a Mile is a good enough test at this stage of her career.

I was shocked when I heard that. How did they come to that conclusion? Wasn't the whole reason Kav wanted to send her to the paddock because he didn't want to burn her out?
The only reasoning I can think of is they can only win the Oaks this year and they think they will win the Cox plate next year anyway?

Honestly, Surround at the same stage would have towed Atlantic Jewel.
