I guess with the handicappers ratings we should be able to make an accurate assessment of a races quality.

1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 have the usual quality I would say.

I'm just not convinced any of these can win the MC, most other years there are a couple which at least generate genuine interest.

What happened to all the talk that the Geelong Cup would be hotter than the Caulfield Cup  what

Seriously if there was hurdles out on the course no one would bad an eye lid

Been a constant flow of money for Dunaden in the Melbourne Cup over the last 48 hrs. $32 to $26 Betfair.

I like Tanby, I think he'd be a genuine lightweight chance if he won this and copped a 1.5kg penalty to be running in the big one with 51.5kg.

I think Kerrin McEvoy's mount is pretty good value.

Without wanting to rain on the parade I think this is the weakest spring we have seen in many years and the Geelong Cup is a perfect example.  If you believe a superior stayer is engaged in this back it like there is no tomorrow.  It looks like Bauer's race to me.  He is Cup grade, Anything that beats him should be considered a Melbourne Cup chance.

How could you be so sure, in fact sure at all, that Bauer will turn the tables on Tanby? I reckon Bauer is under the odds based on that - same distance and Tanby even gets a 0.5kg pull ON HIM!.. With 2.7L to make up... Undecided

Wenona,

Hope your on the right track--then my 100/1 in MC would be ok.
