Zaremba beat Mahogany in the Vase - and he was a gelding.

I reckon you are thinking of Lady Purpose who won the Norman Robinson - I think she was trained by Freedman. ????

sorry, after a bit of searching I was thinking of Northwood Plume who ran 2nd the next year beaten by Blevic with the outstanding Wild Thunder  wacko 3rd.

She was pretty decent

I wish i could find somewhere that listed the entire field in some of these races back that far

I'll confess to being a huge fan of her's, but gee I reckon Dowager Queen will give this a huge shake at Flemington.

Race 3 – WAKEFUL STAKES (Group 2) - 2000 metres:

Fallen One over-raced in the early stages.

After passing the 600m Fallen One shifted out from behind Gioe quite abruptly, got its head up and forced Pane In The Glass wider on the track.

C Williams rider of Dowager Queen (NZ) accidentally dropped his whip near the 200m.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on La Dolce Diva today G Schofield explained that he wasn’t given any specific instructions to lead and the basis of his instructions were to try and get the filly into a placing so it could qualify for The Oaks.  He added that given there was no speed in the race he felt his best chance was to be positive on the filly in an effort to try and be in the placings at the finish.  His explanation was noted.
