Here's a bit of fun for you MELB CUP Brainiacs out there.
A quiz on the Melb Cup winners. It's not an easy quiz but you'll do much better if you have a list of the previous Winners in front of you!
Most points wins (I am using a sliding scoring system with bonus points for any clever, creative or humourous answers) WARNING!! It's gets a bit weird in the later questions so don't be afraid to use the brain!!  lol

Entries close Monday 10pm. No editing your answers after that time!

9 Maybe 1864 Lantern ?  Though technically the first winner at night was Van Der Hum (well almost).

11 Delta BLUEs, BLACK Knight, GOLD and BLACK, SILVER Knight, WHITE Nose, BLUE Spec,

12 What ? Nerdiest ?  1863 Banker because it rhymes with......

8 Jockeys = Roy Higgins (The Professor), Darren Beadman (God in the saddle), Harry (Handbrake) White, John (Overweight) Marshall, Steven (I am ) King, Blake (On the Punt) Shinn, John (Johnny)  Duggan , John Miller

Q2. Which jockeys rode multiple winners for Bart?
Harry White & Roy Higgins & Darren Beadman -  I bought the tie after win 11 as a keepsake.  He went and won 12.  The tie aint worth jack.

Q3. What horse in what year, 1st cracked the magic 3min 30sec mark to win a CUP?
1885 Sheet Anchor

1950 Comic Court

Van der Hum  (certainly does 3 words regardless of whether or not they are in the Collins Dictionary they would be allowed at scrabble or any good trivia night.

The Quack  -  Definitely right.  Everyone goes to the Quack.

Q9. Which winner could have found his way to the finish line in the dark?
Lantern  -   Goes without saying, could not run out of sight on a dark night.  or  Looking for it with a lantern.  Correct?

Q10. Which winner would have been good at running across hot coals?
Rimfire  - has to be this bloke -  as close as i could come to runfire

Q11. How many colours have won the CUP?
5 Olive, Red, Gold, Black & Silver  (Is Corniche a colour?)

Q12. Which horse was the nerdiest winner?
Saintly -  Only horse that fits the definition of a person that is either a bore or a geek.  You cant be saintly and a nice bloke

Q13. Which 2 winners names could have been cosy bed companions?
Don Juan & Let’s Elope  -  Ones a great lover, one wants to run off and love great.
