Wasn't there a harness race about 20 years ago, the Truer at Bankstown I think, where the runner up protested, lost the protest but went to court and got awarded the race.  My memory isn't what it was though.

Franco Ice beat Westburn Grant and Generator in one of the toughest staying performances you are ever likely to see.

Which is very interesting, but might be better placed in the harness section as it has nothing to do with the issue being discussed.

The chairman of the relevant WA stewards panel probably has to go

It is essential to the good conduct of racing that the decision of the stewards on the day must stand.

Where it becomes clear, later, as it may in this case, that the stewards made an error of judgement then the chairman of the stewards panel must be fired  -- no excuses.

And as a side bet I would like to predict that it will be the Melbourne stewards that are the first to uphold a protest for a 'whip offence' proving the decisive margin for a relegated 'winner' -- presumably Terry Bailey has been counselled about the immaturity of some earlier remarks.

Considering the significant interference appeared to occur a stride or two past the post what did you expect?

I only saw the head on replay, how could you tell where it was?

Side on during the running it looked to lay in before the post chin

Initial thoughts were he'd get it considering the short margin  Shrug

From the head on you could see where the running rail changes colour.

This is at the winning post and it appeared to me that the bump was just beyond that point.
