Saw Russ at AP one night . . and it was at 'Silks' smorgasbord

He was sitting on a chair that he had placed on a table to watch a race, and he was riding(?) one home . . great entertainment, and a lot of the unkind in our group (probably labour voters) were hoping to see him dislodged from his 'chariot'

No security guards in those days to prevent loutish behaviour 


Same night a wag mate of mine . . . we were both 'bushies' . . . asked one of the bookies (not sure if there were 2 or 3 ) where the 'main' betting ring was located

Without batting an eye, bookie replied: "You're standing in it, son!"

An old codger at the races today could not find this thread.  So I have put this up so he can find it.  He's the patron of the Glen Colless fan club it seems.
