you sure wont find one in Australia chin

Today at shep race 2 we had the honour of watching another fixed race with the Jack clan involved.

1  507          SAFELY SHUT           K R Waters Kim Waters 106.00
2  5105s  GANGSTER BOY           D G Farrar Nathan Jack 1-70
3  69s21  CHLOE VARGARITA      D W Jack Leigh Sutton 6-70
4  740s5  BONGO MISS             P A Campbell  Paul Campbell 66.0
5  65332  MACHTWISTER            A Xiriha        Brian Gath 6-50
6  25614  DYNAMITE DUDE     M E Higgins Matthew Higgins   9-30
7  13115  SIERRA GEM             D W Jack Daniel Jack 7-40
 ---------- Second Row ----------
8  3s164  CHARM ALARM NZ     D W Jack Danny Thackeray   44-50

Gangstar boy(Nathan) leads Sierra Gem(Daniel) who attacks the living daylights out of him chin CHLOE VARGARITA lands the 1-1 with CHARM ALARM on its back Daniel Jack is still attacking Ganster Boy for the entire race until the bell when its starting to faint after doing the damage to the FAV.  its no surprise just by pure luck Chloe Vargarita and Charm Alarm run the quinella .

This race was a set up by Daniel Jack rant  it was plain for all to see he was working the leader into the ground for his other 2 runners. David Farrar should be approaching Daniel Jack and asking him around to have a beer one day at his place and get square.

Give him life for this disgraceful act of setting the race up for his stable Thumbs Down. no wonder the trots have gone backwards in the last decade while all other forms of punting have increased their turnover.

First, lest someone accuses me of being a "harness racing basher", let me state clearly that I have attended trot meetings for decades, was a long-time member of a harness club, and owned trotters.

Second, I think a keenly contested harness race such as an Inter final - under lights - is a great spectacle, maybe moreso than a Stradbroke, even.

However, harness racing has a major image problem - rightly or wrongly.  The current allegations in the NSW industry, if proven, are a total disgrace.  Those involved, be they drivers, owners, stewards, whatever, deserve to be penalised to the fullest extent possible.  Sadly, it will reflect on harness racing outside NSW, and on persons connected with the industry but in no way connected with the alleged rorts.

Harness racing's major problem lies in the very nature of what it is.  A horse is pulling a gig, so that the chances for "hard-luck stories" are never-ending. ALL drivers in a race could be trying their hardest, yet the pattern of the race can be such that cynics, nay-sayers, fools, etc, will say "That was a boat-race."  "He was dead."  "He could have got off the fence."  "He purposely boxed up the favourite".  And they won't be convinced otherwise.

Problem No 2, is that trotters are tough buggers.  They can race Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and then some.  Why is this a "problem"?  Well, again the cynics will see the Wednesday run as merely a practice for the Friday race, etc.

I don't have close connections in the harness industry, so would not pretend to know the extent of non-triers, etc.  I have an opinion based on watching races, but that's purely subjective and is worth NIL.

One thing I do know: the very large majority of runners in metro galloping races are out there to do their best.  Another thing I know is that there'll never be anything like the current alleged NSW harness rort identified in gallops or greyhounds.

I dont think there's much more needs to be said, Nafey's brother Daniel can look forward to a minimum 12 months, if he gets lucky

Stewards report from the Shepparton boatie

RACE 2 – HICKS STABLES & STEEL CONSTRUCTION 3YO PACE (2190m MS)

Pre-race blood samples were taken from Sierra Gem.

Driver Daniel Jack (Sierra Gem) was questioned regarding his tactics on this horse during the early and middle stages before Sierra Gem tired from the 900m mark to finish distanced. Evidence was also taken from drivers Nathan Jack (Gangster Boy), Leigh Sutton (Chloe Vargarita) and Danny Thackeray (Charm Alarm NZ) and club veterinary surgeon Dr Jen Clulow. After considering all the evidence tendered stewards adjourned the matter to a time and date to be fixed.

A very similar situation did happen in the NSW Greyhounds about 10 years ago.

Nobody is for one minute suggesting the others are squeeky clean but boy dont the trots mob put them all to shame when it comes to rorting.the first thing all codes should do is make it a condition of their licence that if they run a runner(horse or dog) with any substance they will be banned and never be allowed back in the game.

This business of banning rorters then allowing them back makes a joke of the whole thing.so if your involved in rigging a race or pulling one up then thats it for you in the sport no licence renewal.

The ICAC report is no longer available online unfortunately but a search of "Rodney Potter ICAC" provides the following information.

In 2000 the then Chief Steward of GRNSW was found to have colluded with 5 registered participants(including 4 leading trainers) to:

1.Fix the random swab marble draws to insure certain races wouldn't be swabbed
2.Replace or tamper with urine samples before delivery to Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory.
3.Took over or influenced inquiries following positive drug swabs which should have been conducted by other stewards.
4.Provided a false greyhound registration certificate, and otherwise assisting, so that one greyhound (Mabelline) could be substituted for another (Fiery Banner) in the Maiden Race at Bulli on 22 March 2000.

What really annoys me is that Daniel Jack knew what he was doing, set race up for other horse and is rewarded by correct weight being declared and all wagers paid.
A race where stewards inquiry into race is to be held betting should be suspended and all bets refunded.I am not talking thru my wallet.Would like to know was much laid against Nathans horse on Betfair

Kingston Town,

This happens with nearly every gallops race in Europe, are you going to give them all life!!!! Pacemakers do the same thing, set it up for one of the stable's other runners.

It's crap I know and should not be tolerated under any circumstances!!!!!

Mate..... It will always be one rule for the big guys at the gallops and one for the small country guys...

Not a word was spoken about what Money Angel did in the 2009 Oaks @ $125/1 and dropped out from 500m mark but the only

way Faint Perfume would be assured of winning was that cracker pace....

Is it just ironic that Money Angel was sent to Tas after that and ridden by Maskiell who in the last few months has copped another 6 month suspension ??

See....It's frikken easy to play Vo's game of   " 7 ways to Kevin Bacon"!!!!!!!!.....

Have a vague recollection of some allegations about swabbing irregularities at AP in the distant past concerning the then swab stall attendant fiddling the swabs for a consideration...the upshot as I recall was he got the bullet but no charges as far as I know.

Another old time trainer/driver in Brisbane Billy Stephens who had a reputation got sent out in the early days of AP and was refused a license when his time expired.

He was a good horseman

He drove a horse for me one day at Rocklea when our traner was incapacitated finished with a buckled wheel.

Can't agree with you at all there KT.  There is a difference between a minor amount of substance that has no bearing on performance and systemic rorting.  The way things are at the moment I think it is more likely that a small time trainer who will get caught for an accidental positive and the big guys will get away with the systemic rorting.  Your "solution" will make things worse.
