Harness racing drug test scandal continues
Ray Thomas

TWO leading harness racing trainers have been charged with paying a steward to ensure their horses were not drug-tested in races.
In the latest bombshell, trainer/driver Cameron Fitzpatrick and trainer Dean Atkinson face multiple corruption charges as part of Harness Racing NSW's investigation into the drug/betting scandal engulfing the sport.

Fitzpatrick has been charged with twice offering a monetary reward to a Harness Racing NSW steward to not drug test Lombo Baccarat at Bankstown on July 1 and Penrith on July 7.

Lombo Baccarat won both races.

R5 - $2,753.50

The guy getting the money from the rorts made about $420k over a few months from srories I have heard & read.
So if they are paying out so much to get a rort in their favour, why are they only adding $1k to a fisrt 4 pool.
If it was a good thing wouldnt they trauck load it across all forms of betting in all states.
For me the increased pools as shown above dont indicate the full rort is on.
You would expect to be 10's of 1000's going on all over the place.

when you start over-betting a tri or first four pool at the trots, the return on equity becomes rather poor. The gallops can hold 10's of 1000's or even 100's of thousands on city races, nothing like that at the trots unless it's a miracle mile or interdominion. Sure they could unload 50k the win, and bring the beast into $1.40 and hope any few "overs punters" remaining in the game give it the boot-outs and maybe they can skim $1.60 out of it, but it would be pretty obvious, which it is anyway, they got too greedy, instead of wanting to do one rort a meeting, they tried to rort all the quaddie legs and then some  lol  Their goose is well and truly cooked this time, they simply have to wait for that knock on the door from the task force

what's new, Lukey boy had 2 runners in Bathurst race 6, the thing he drove at $3.50, and  Lightning Raider (Matt Rue)

at $9 (who was beaten as a $1.60 fav last start at Menangle dangle) no prizes for guessing who won tonight's race

that's because it got soundly beaten by a 40/1 donkey last week, amazing how when the odds get better they improve lengths against far superior horses  chin It's a merry-go-round betting trots races involving stablemates and $1.30 chances, if you jump on at the right time the ride is enjoyable, otherwise you do this  bash

And i`ll tell you TD..if i was punting i would have been on at those odds but alas i wasn`t so thats the way it goes.. $ 9 was overs considering his form which INMO didn`t entitle him to be those odds in that race

You're allowed to mention if you feel anything is overs, even if you're not punting.

We're here to help each other I thought.

It means diddly squat saying it afterwards.

I didn`t know that mentioning 2 horses that INMO were over the odds constituted always saying horses were overs after they won.

If it comes up in a discussion I will continue to mention just as I will if I think something was unders.

If I was being a smartarse regarding overs I would have said I had a monkey on it and you blokes were idiots for not being on.

TD your probably better off working your own overs out..I can`t be responsible for somebody else walking around with the arse out of their strides lol   lol

Punters are getting baited from all angles on the trots, the newspaper prices are dreamt up by possibly the copy boy, how else was todays winner of race 7 at Menangle trots AYU GYPSY $21 in all todays papers (and the roughie of the field), and yet paid $2.20 ? It was never longer than about $3.50 on the TAB and came right in at the death, helped along by the pole horse Cold Native tailing right off at the start. Also, there's a pattern of tote baiting on interstate trots, horse that are 33/1 in the paper are opening as short as $2.50 (especially at Globe Derby and QLD trots) on pools of a few hundred, and in the same race the $1.30 paper fav is opening at $28, the totes are fiddled with big time, to mislead they who take quaddies. Just check out what i'm saying, this week at any Brisbane or Melb or Adelaide or Perth trots, check out the home state opening tote odds on the quaddie legs, and compare them to the finals, you would think you were looking at the wrong race. Those paper odds are only printed to mislead, not to "guide," it's been happening for decades.
