There's the Qld Cup over 3200.

There might be one at Beaudesert over a long distance, too.

You'd know the 2400s.

There is a very good mare in Queensland that deserves a shot in a race over 2400m preferably a ratings 72.

Why anybody with a proper thoroughbred would race them in Queensland is beyond me.

I'm sure there are plenty of them.

As to your question... it just shows that your standards are at odds with those of the thousands who own and race horses in Qld.

Maybe they're smart, and you're not?  lol

No, they have just cheapened themselves and the sport.

As I have said before real thoroughbreds are 2000m+ horses.'

What we see in QLD and most of Australia is stamina induced quarter horses not thoroughbreds.  Thumb Down

Anyway I have had my rant.

Good luck to Andy with his real thoroughbred - Virgin Islands in the 5th from Taupo. Making her debut and dreaming of an Oaks.  Thumb Up

Matt, I fully agree that there should be more staying races.  But how do we get that to happen??

Tell owners not to be impatient when selecting yearlings?

Tell owners not to be so miserly and be prepared to support a trainer who'll need 3 preparations to get the stayer up to a win?

Tell breeders not to respond to owners' preferences and offer them staying lines?

Tell punters that staying races are not difficult to bet in?

Tell Sky Channel that they really can include long races in their tight scheds?

Tell sponsors to ignore the glamor sprints and put their dollars towards long races?

Over to you, now.

If all races happened to be staying races, you'd be calling for more 5000 jumps races  smiley

There aren't enough 5000m jumps races in this country.

Beaudesert seems to run quite a lot of 2450m races, you often see horses with that sort of form line lob up in those low grade staying races in QLD.

The real problem Auth is restricted class races on Saturdays.  If all races were open, programs would have to be divided by distance rather than class, which means you would end up with a decent program of 2400m Saturday races, and then a program of restricted races for horses getting there/not good enough.

A recent Wednesday at EF had a 2400m C3 with a capacity field which tells you there is a poll of horses looking for a distance, just poor programming to deal with them.
