I've been watching the "australian racing year" series on TVN over the past few weeks. I grew up with racing in the 80's  and didn't realise what an iron horse this bloke was. Bloody hell!!!!!!!!!! he raced in every state in what seemed like every G 1 race on the calendar

Does anyone have his race record on hand?

He was owned by David Haines I think who owned a couple of other handy horses as well, Trained By the inimitable Little General, without any shadow of a doubt the greatest trainer Australia has ever seen and probably the world, but I digress, he was a Pretty good nag(Chiamare) I remember backing him when he won a WFA race(I think it was the Queen Elizabeth) at Randwick ridden by Peter Cook( one of the best ever) he adopted Stop Start tactics to upset the Fave Trissaro who was being aimed at The Sydney Cup on the Monday(and he won that) Peter new that Trissaro could not change tactics with the "big one only 2 days away, Trissaro needed a solid pace all the way to win over 2000 metres at that stage of his prep, Pete wasn't going to allow him to get that, Brilliant ride on a very Good horse(without being Top Draw)
Tommy's horses were all Tough, he trained them tough too, they were Aussie horses which meant a lot as well s far as not being a Poof like a lot of horses are today lol   lol

there is nothing you can give them that will help them stay sound, you should know that Matt, well except horsemanship which was plentiful back then, even Common sense was a lot more common than it is now!!

What helped them recover and allowed them to run so often ?

What was it that Joe Janiack got into trouble in Hong Kong for ?

I would think that Chiamare, like almost all geldings in the major stables at that time, would have been on Steroids whereas  Takeover Target was on Hydroxyprogesterone.

Chiamare's pedigree is made up full of that poofy European blood.  Thumb Down

Sure on his mums side he is 6 generations Australian but excepting Todman and Trenton he is all European. We have even established that Todman is all European.

Trenton has good claims to being ALL Australasian on mums side.

Matt you are the Champion off useless information aren't you? Sure they brought out Stallions from overseas but the majority of the female lines had Colonial blood, in other words it was mongrel blood, I would always want to back the mongrel in a fight than the "pure blue Blood"

they had some colonial blood, it was a mix that is what makes them mongrels!!!! Why the Convict Blood had to keep pulling the pomme poofs arse's out of the fire in 2 world wars!!

Getting back to the career of Chiamare Bloodhound lists him as having had 39 starts for 7 wins, 11 seconds and 4 thirds- total prize money $421 175 with his last start the 1985 Australian Cup.

The studbook lists him as a stallion yet he served no mares. Was he a gelding and it is just an over site from the Studbook ?

You don't have to serve a mare to be a stallion.

Some know this from bitter experience.
