With the announcement into todays Sunday mail that Greyhounds are to go it alone at Logan where does that leave Harness racing.Albion park with a grandstand that is condemend and needs to be knocked down and rebuilt because of shonky work at the start.
Not sure if Cant do will throw the money in to rebuild or will it just mean Harness will wither and die as the Gold coast hasnt got much longer to go.

a few stewards reports from Albion Park Saturday night

RACE 3 – 4BC NEWS TALK PACE (M1) 2138m MS

PLACINGS – MARISSIMA (NZ), AQUA BLUE GIRL, LIGHTNING MAGIC (NZ), KNIGHT N CHARGE (NZ)

SECTIONALS: Mile Rate: 1.59.4      Lead Time: 38.2

First Quarter: 31.3   Second Quarter: 30.6          Third Quarter: 29.7        Fourth Quarter: 28.9

A pre race blood sample was taken from EMPEROR SANTOS.

Stewards questioned G Dixon regarding the driving tactics adopted on AQUA BLUE GIRL. After the start was effected. AQUA BLUE GIRL which began well from barrier two and crossed down to the lead, surrendered the lead to MARISSIMA (NZ) (B Cockburn) which was racing to its outside. Driver G Dixon explained that after the start MAGIC ATTACK (NZ) (J O’Sullivan) and STREET SAFE (H Green) which had begun outside MARISSIMA (NZ) were applying early pressure for for a leading position. He said that he judged that MARISSIMA (NZ) was the second best horse in the race behind AQUA BLUE GIRL and that if he had failed to take a trail at this point then he envisaged MAGIC ATTACK (NZ) and STREET SAFE progressing forward and placing undue pressure on AQUA BLUE GIRL. He felt that by surrendering the lead to MARISSIMA (NZ),  AQUA BLUE GIRL would get a good run into the race and he stated that the mare had its chance to run down MARISSIMA (NZ) from the 200m but wasn’t good enough on the night. Stewards noted the explanation tendered.

T Dawson (EXPLOSIVENESS) was fined $100 under Rule 168 (1) for careless driving in the home straight with a lap remaining by allowing his horse to shift down closer towards STREET SAFE which was racing to his inside, which resulted in both horses being inconvenienced momentarily.

The near side spreader on BRULEA CHARLIE (W Graham) broke in the home straight on the final occasion. The gear was inspected and found to be of good order and condition and no further action was taken.

RACE 7 – CAMPBELLS WHOLESALE PACE (M4+) 2138m MS

PLACINGS – ARTIFACTOR, DESTREOS (NZ), L E OPERATIVE (NZ), I AM SAM

SECTIONALS: Mile Rate: 1.56.0      Lead Time: 36.5

First Quarter: 31.4   Second Quarter: 29.1          Third Quarter: 28.3        Fourth Quarter: 28.8

A pre race blood sample was taken from ARTIFACTOR.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the driving tactics adopted by W Graham (EXTREME STATURE). EXTREME STATURE which had begun from barrier one was used out of the gate to show early speed and hold out DESTREOS (NZ) for the first 1000m of the race before taking a sit on that horse at approximately the 800m.

In the concluding stages EXTREME STATURE tired to finish in last position beaten 21m. A subsequent veterinary examination of EXTREME STATURE failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a poor post race recovery. W Graham advised stewards that it was the instructions from connections to attempt to lead if possible and he felt that he was able to do this without much exertion. He said that after a 36.5 lead time he was able to back the horse off to a 31.4 quarter and when DESTREOS (NZ) applied pressure leaving the front straight with a lap remaining he surrendered that position and took a trail on DESTREOS (NZ) thereafter. After consideration stewards adjourned this inquiry to a time and date to be fixed to give them the opportunity to investigate other aspects of this race.

RACE 8 – SOUTHERN QUEENSLAND PLUMBING PTY LTD 3YO PACE (3C0) 1660m MS

PLACINGS – PASSIONATE FELLA (NZ), AMERICAN LEGEND, MONTANA FALCON (NZ), TAKE SEVEN

SECTIONALS: Mile Rate: 1.58.7      Lead Time: 3.4

First Quarter: 27.9   Second Quarter: 32.0          Third Quarter: 31.3        Fourth Quarter: 27.9

A pre race blood sample was taken from MONTANA FALCON (NZ).

PETES DELIGHT (W Graham) raced roughly when being restrained out of the gate.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the driving tactics adopted by PASSIONATE FELLA (NZ) (M Dux). Trainer V Rasmussen was questioned as to the instructions that were given to Mr. Dux and she advised stewards that whilst they have only had the horse for one Australian start, they were unsure of the horse’s capabilities in regard to speed from the gate. Mr. Dux explained that when the field was dispatched PASSIONATE FELLA (NZ) was travelling well within itself and it was his decision to move forward on the horse and challenge for the lead. He further advised that AMERICAN LEGEND (B Cowen) which had only raced on two occasions had raced with gate speed and previously surrendered the lead to take a trail, and that if he continued to drive PASSIONATE FELLA (NZ) forward, this horse may take a trail.

PASSIONATE FELLA (NZ) had a tendency to race greenly and entering the front straight on the first occasion ran in momentarily which inconvenienced AMERICAN LEGEND. A warning was issued to the connections of PASSIONATE FELLA (NZ) and they were advised to take corrective measures.

Trainer V Rasmussen was advised now that she was aware of the horse’s capabilities, any change of tactics must be advised to stewards.

Have you ever heard so much crap in all your life

Driver G Dixon explained that after the start MAGIC ATTACK (NZ) (J O’Sullivan) and STREET SAFE (H Green) which had begun outside MARISSIMA (NZ) were applying early pressure for for a leading position. He said that he judged that MARISSIMA (NZ) was the second best horse in the race behind AQUA BLUE GIRL and that if he had failed to take a trail at this point then he envisaged MAGIC ATTACK (NZ) and STREET SAFE progressing forward and placing undue pressure on AQUA BLUE GIRL

He surrended the lead because  Aqua Blue Girl was stone cold dead for Marissima and the sooner they get this cheat Dixon the better it will be  he hooks them up no end and i cant understand how he gets away with it without someone belting the living daylights out of him.

I cant wait for the day he hooks one up and in the process and  has a fall then breaks as many bones as possible to cause him the most severe pain .
blind fredddy can see what he is up to and nothing gets done .

Bluey i have no problem with wishing him harm same as he has no problem hooking them up on people who bet their hard earned on his drives only to see the grub hook them up and his other runner gets the cash time and time again . luckily i dont bet on them anymore just the odd lay.

I dont know if you have ever been a victim of a driver/rider pulling one up on you but i have and got 12 months when i grabbed the grub by the throat in the stabling area, while i was trying to drag the germ around the back to belt him  bop he cried like my daughter did when she was a 3yo .

How did i know he pulled it up you may ask chin well he asked a bookie mate of mine to lay it for him rant so i got my outlay back plus 20% his choice was to pay or to pay ......... up to him .

Mate I have been a victim of this with my own horse and yes it pisses you off, but it is and has been part of racing for as long as racing has been around.  Happens in all 3 codes, not hard to get a greyhound not to perform!!!

Bluey it may have been a part of racing but he picked the wrong bloke to try it on as it cost him 20% more than i lost nowink gee he acted like a tough bloke when he was at parra leagues club but went to water fast with a big mit around his throat . again when he mouthed off about me getting 12 months.only for my missus and daughter being with me i would have pulverised the grub.

Harness racing enthusiasts in SE Qld are putting more pressure on the guvnment to give them a fair deal in compensation for the resumption of Parklands by the guvnment with another full page ad in the CM appealing to The Premier...this time it's a united effort by the APHRC....Redcliffe.....GCHRC....and BOTRA.

They have a sound case obviously and Anna should do the right thing. thumbsup
