Looks like the dream clash is on- hopefully tomorrow's barrier draw can make this an interesting one:

Throw in Kiwis Gold Ace, Pembrook Benny, Highview Tommy & possibly Auckland Reactor too. Looms as the Best Ballarat Cup for ages.

I only heard the race, did he go a bit early?

By the call it would have been a 1.01 Betfair job at some stage.

Sushi Sushi put in a great effort to stave off Smoken Up. Yes he did get nabbed, but I dont reckon Sugars went too early. Thought it was very smart how Sugars negotiated the first 600m of the race, and although Smoken Up was giving him the stare from 1800m out, he was able to rate him pretty well in front. If you want to nitpick, the vigour Sugars drove with in the last 150m (when I sense he thought he'd pinched it) looked far less than either Alford or Purdon, but in fairness he probably knew Sushi had given his all anyway & thought harder driving mightn't have made any difference.

Big tick for Sushi. Smoken Up brave as always but needs a few weeks rest before Perth. Heza Trick went well & looks a future GC horse too. Highview Tommy bites everyone on the arse for the 2nd time this season (nobody could foresee his NZ cup 3rd on form either). Race report says Gold Ace locked wheels, but he still went disgracefully for a horse of his ability.

Went to Charlton last night and the talking point out of the race was Sugars stop driving 100m out wondering what salute he would give!!!!

Horse went super!!!

Reckon Sushi glides like black Caviar. That's why it looks like the driver/jockey isn't really pushing them out when in reality they are giving their all.

I have no doubt the horse gave his all but the issue yesterday was the driver just sat until he realised he was in danger.

Maybe those extra couple of pushes gets him home!!!!
