New Super Multi parlay bet option: How could this be a good idea for punters?
TAB Sportsbet will launch a new 10 leg multi-bet that allows punters to link bets from each of the three racing codes with any sport.
Ahead of this issue being buried in the bottomless Tabcorp pit, it would be interesting to have some quick reactions to the sense of punters accepting this invitation from Tabcorp -- on a 10 leg bet the cumulative tax takeout, at 15 to 20 per cent per leg, is hardly likely to offer value to the punter taking a winning bet across ten events.
Anyone wanting to bet on 10 individual outcomes would be better advised to place each bet separately with Betfair and parlay-up all or part of the winnings progressively, as might seem sensible.
One would like to see the Tabcorp paperwork that delivered this initiative -- it should be filed with the paperwork which delivered Spinner and, more recently, the BIG6 and DUET options.
Is this the best Tabcorp can do?
Taking advantage of TAB customers hardly reflects well on Tabcorp -- it should be arguing strongly for much lower tote takeouts generally and the abandonment of 'roundig down' dividends, among other things that would ensure punters get a fair go.

What would happen if you have a 4 leg bet with GWS to win the premiership at 500-1, Lleyton Hewitt to win the US Open at 250-1, Pakistan to win the World Cup at 20-1 and Tiger Woods to win the US Masters at 5-1 at you take formulas 1-4. So from my understanding if 1 of the legs get up you get a collect...if more then one leg is successful though how do they decide which leg they pay out for your formula 1 bet? Hopefully that makes sense

they would pay out on all winning legs as if they were just an individual bet
if only two legs won, you would get 3 collects. 2 from each bet and another for the forumla 2 If 3 legs win you get 3 individual payouts 3 doubles(forumla 2) and 1 triple (forumla 3). 4 legs you get even more doubles and triples, plus the multi on the whole thing.
So if you wanted to have a few dollars on it you probably wouldnt get 100% with the flexibetting, but since its a longshot that you will get even one leg that kind of bet is where this new super multi comes into its own IMO.
I agree jfc, but im not by any means a serious punter, so i try not to worry about things that I dont fully understand. Regards to value thats the only reason I had Bolton, they looked value to me against a weak everton side, unfortunately the wrong game. but id say you are one of the best contributors to this site

jfc,
You surprise me! One can be ignorant despite ones good education!!!!!
I have never argued against your % and value statements. Without a doubt excellent judgement of form, and value, can result in a small sum being compounded into a large sum over time.
What I have said is that this bet type will be the answer for some types of punters. It will be those types of punters that can find 10 good value collects over a week but still manage to lose overall for the week due to psychological factors coming into play inbetween these 10 good bets. They allup Ambitous Dragon ( horse of the year ) into some maiden winner that runs poorly ( by betting trainer design ) instead of waiting for the next class horse ridden by the top jockey for instance in a race the trainer wants to win.
Some other types of punters might have a life elsewhere ( golf fishing family etc ) and dont want to be tied to a computer for a week and this bet type suits them as they can set and forget.
I mentioned a single $10.00 bet per week - this makes your welfare claims seem rather obtuse and unreasonable as well.
I've said it to Jim and now jfc I'll say it to you - I won the last $400.00 tipping comp here. Knock me off in the next comp and prove I'm silly!

http://www.livescore.in/match/tIRuJII0/#odds-comparison;1x2-odds;full-timeA similar story for the Everton match. Now, it doesn't matter how serious a punter you are. Better understanding of punting principles will repay everyone in many aspects of life.

Jim,
If I'm such a dimwit beat me in the next $400.00 punting comp. I won the last one - obviously clueless.

I would not hang my hat on winning a one-off tipping / punting competition. When one enters any punting competition they are playing with 'pretend money' and make selections with no financial risk, in the 'real world ' of punting one is betting with 'real money', where not only is selection criteria important ,but money management is of even more relevance.

Bubbasmith,
I can't deny the psychological aspect.... as such is my very point! It's not all about percentages!
Bubba - I've won a few tipping comps in my time.

Bubba's right: the only tips that count are the ones ya back.
Anyone can fluke roughies in a tipping comp. The midweek thread attests to that.

dubbledee,
Will switch to a higher strike rate method in next comp. Something I consider to be a much much easier approach. No doubt the 'fluke' claims will continue...

We are blessed with such great punters on this site but I have DD at the top.
DD puts his up BEFORE the race as with almost all others including me put them up After.
Good luck to all and hope we all get a winner and Enjoy the Buzz.

Hmmmm,
Seems you guys are onto me - PoisonPen7 has been lettig me put my roughies on after the race during the comps.....
I think not.
Honestly I am tempted to start up a rebel 'World Series" place challenge..... I'll see if James is available given that Kerry's not around anymore.
