Full page ad by Dan Murphy's liquor barn on alcoholic ginger beer.......wih Honey...or Lemon...or Banana/Mango or Lemon flavouring if you don't want the original just plain ginger.......made a mental note to try some.....until I saw they're sold in 500ml bottles for $5.90.....which translated to a carton of 24 equals $141......how expensive is that. angry

Maybe if they arrive in supermarkets they'll be more sensibly priced. Shrug

My craze at the moment Arsie, is Lipton's bottles of iced tea in many of the flavours you mention in your post.  Not alcoholic of course, but just add ice and a very refreshing drink on a hot day!

Which we don't have today!  mad

I have been amazed over the past few months how much fridge space cider, and now ginger beer, has taken up in my local bottlo. As arsie says it is quite dear but i like to grab a bottle or two try every now and again.

Just on beverages was amazed to find out that The Sands, one of the known cleveland mafia haunts, is now not serving XXXX heavy on tap......WOW! Not enough turn over apparently, thankfully they still have space for the great NSW beer, Tooheys New.

lol  Not sure the last time you saw grog sold in a supermarket Undecided then again, who owns Dan Murphy's? and you expect they might be cheaper

I'm a big fan of cider, not that I drink too often but I've been drinking the 5 seeds for the last couple of years, love it  shy

Ginger beer and Cider sales (cider in particular) have been going through the roof.

I was brought up by my old man enjoying a schooner with a dash of stones green ginger so on the odd occasion I enjoy a ginger beer or two. Thumb Up

To this end I was excited when Stones released its alcoholic ginger beer but for some reason they have backed off on the strong ginger taste. Thumb Down Definitely not recommended.

Reminds me of what Gough Whitlam said when told that Indian prime minister Desai (a guy who drank his own urine at breakfat) was running late one morning:-

"On the piss again"

When the State Service Club opened way back in the 60's there were a couple of crusty old guys who always started wih a rum & Stones Green ginger wine chaser followed by a beer.

If it was busy sometimes one of the committee would help out behind the bar.

One night after work I was standing nearby when they ordered their usual rum and a beer.

Fred who worked in the Electoral Office was helping out.....he  repeated their order.....a rum and a beer?   as if to make sure.....they nodded and kept on talking while he went to the other end of the bar to get their drinks.

I watched as he measured out the rum....... poured it into a beer glass...... and filled it up with xxxx.

He forgot the Stones Green Ginger Wine. beer

They blew up and Fred didn't volunteer very often after that. lol

Dr Pepper is not bad too but it is an acquired taste while Bundaberg ginger beer is the best ginger beer I reckon.
