It seems that every time I turn on the TV or pick up a newspaper or view a website, someone is going on about how good a particular actor is and how they deserve to earn $10's millions dollars every year  what

Actors, are paid liars only!!!!

They don't do anything at all to benefit the human race, yet they earn HUGE money???
In fact, they distract people from furthering the human race
What does that tell a half smart human about the "law of economics"?

The shift in technology  in recent years, is slowly taking from these paid liars paypackets, albeit very slowly.

Eventually, they will get what they actually deserve, which is similar to the average wage, but in the meantime, anyone who goes to the movies or buys DVDs etc is making a monkey(abeit quite often a good looking monkey) a  multi millionaire!!
Well done to you all!

I love acting. It is so much more real than life - Oscar Wilde

I never said all actors are cattle; what I said was all actors should be treated like cattle. - Alfred Hitchcock

They're not, least I don't think they are.

Movie companies - many of which have ownership links in media outlets - have direct benefit in promoting the stars to get people to attend.

I think that's why they promoted so much.

The second half of your comment is my exact point, Steve!!

These "actors" are promoted well beyond what they deserve and the sheep know no better and believe what they are told so hand over their money which goes to the companies that run the show.

The actors are paid a pittance, but still way overs !!!

A poor actor is paid $10's millions for lying!!!

Often, they are paid more than those who wrote or created the lie  what

I do not understand it???

ALL are paid way more than a Stephen Hawking type  what

How f censored d up are humans??

You seem to forget that actors take a lot of time to get into character.
Take this guy, auditioning for a role in a beach movie.  lol

You gotta wonder how did he get the suit on & his performance is so damn believable. He does deserves the role & every penny the flick earns.

The same could be said of authors, painters, musicians, sports stars, horse racing........but they do do something for the human race, they entertain us, and for that i am quite thankful.

Slightly off topic but movie star related.........

Has anyone ever wondered if Tom Cruise and John Travolta are big movie stars because they are Scientologists or despite the same.
Just curious.

Authors, painters, musicians(some) sports stars etc are actually entertainers!!!
They provide something that wasn't here without them and are well above those around them

Actors merely reproduce what their writer told them to
Most aren't even picked for their roles based on their ability, but rather their ability to follow direction.
Otherwise known as SHEEP!!!!

The Awards shows(like Academy Awards, Golden Globe) are just advertising the actors so people see who they are & get interested in going to see the movies. It's all about getting people to know who the hell these actors are & then con them into paying out $ to watch the shows.

Acting is a craft/trade & there are both good actors & bad actors that are successful. Some make terrible movie after terrible movie but still get paid big $ as they have become well known to the public.

I must agree that they get paid obscene amounts of $ for what they actually do but there are also plenty of aspiring actors who get next to nothing & waste their time & never get a break & don't earn much.

hmmm,

Surey the many unemployed actors bring the average down. Years of waiting on tables probably mean that the average tradesman earns more than the average actor!

Again though, that does NOT mean they deserve ridiculous wages

Does that mean every stablehand deserves to be on Peter Snowden or Peter Moody's wage , eventually??

Can't say everyone thinks sports stars should be paid either. From my wife's perpective it's silly to pay someone to kick a ball around or hit a ball with a stick into a hole. She realises they must be good at it but they are still not doing much with their lives.

Imagine if your career officer told you in high school you had to hit a little ball with a stick & get it into a hole nearly every day for the next 20 years. You might clip them over the ear or say "what else do i do?" Answer "nothing, that's it!, get cracking"

DJH,

No one suggested that the free enterprise system was fair in regards to the distributio of the $$$$.

What is fair, albeit only to a degree, is the chance to choose what occupation one wants to follow. One can try for tens of thouands earned in one night as a musician or one weeks rent as a nightfiller.....
