I want to screw a TV mount, into the wall, so i can swing it around and be able to watch it outside in our pergola, plus in the family room / kitchen. Problem is, I would like to know if there is a beam behind the door skirting, or what ever it is called, so I could screw it in there.

You'd imagine there would be. Go buy a stud finder from Bunnings to locate one.

I am semi confident there would have to be a beam behind there, but thought I had better check first. Not sure if a beam finder would work in this situation, not knowing how they work or ever having used one

Great idea Magic My wife thought it was a good idea to replace all the knobs on our kitchen drawers & cupboards. Should be a pretty simple operation with a phillips head screwdriver & it was for all bar 3 of them that I simply can't shift Tried a few different size screwdrivers but just can't budge these little fockers without stuffing the thread on the screw..tips

If you are throwing out the old knobs, I would use a grinder on the knob, not the screw head tough

The bigger the TV the less pros advise to use the swinging mounted brackets. Good luck with it Magic.

magic, just drill a small pilot hole where you want to drill. You will feel if there is solid wood behind it & tell by the shavings that come out. Make sure the screws that hold the bracket will go deep enough to get into the wood & get a solid grip. Have a look & see if there are any powerpoints nearby & where you think the wires may lead. Be wary that you don't drill into wires!!!!

kicker, re your knobs, I'd suggest applying some CRC or equivalent and leave overnight. If that fails, try putting something firm (steel) behind the nut and giving the knob a firm hit. Then try to unscrew.
MagiC, even if no stud, and on the proviso the TV is not heavy, and that your plasterboard is hardened....there are screw in units (designed for picture hanging) that are worth a try. They hold a good weight, and when the weight's distributed over 4 points, I'd be happy with them.
