There are lots of eagle eyes following Brisbane Racing on this Forum.
Let's see if they can identify some performances that might lead to a winner in the coming weeks.

There were some tip-top performances at GC yesterday by some of our best, but I'm giving ROTW to unlucky mare BAREENA. I realise everyone saw it, and she wasn't the only unlucky runner yesterday. But the amazing part about her effort was the ground she made up in the straight. Just on the line Oliver had to steady her, and that's probably cost her the drum. Stewards Report indicated that Oliver said the mare ran on nicely. Yeah, right.
We get the chance to cut our wrists again next Sunday when she lines up at SC over 1400. Let's see what will happen this time.

Yeah, played it twice this arve. You're concerned about her being 3-wide. I thought she got a good run. Was a great effort, but I didn't see any reason to rate her unlucky. She was unlucky that the winner turned up.
It's amazing how just ONE horse can irrevocably change the headlines in racing. We saw a classic example in the VRC Derby last year.

Liam Birchley is quoted in today's C-M:
"I was a little disappointed with her effort even though she (Paprika) was only narrowly beaten. I thought she was easily the best horse in the race and we rode her accordingly"

Liam Birchley must have watched a different race, she was outstanding in defeat. And on a fairer course she'd have bolted up.

I regard that Gold Coast Magic Millions as a picnic meeting. Should I decide to have a bet I get out my trusty abacus and divide my proposed stake by four, given that, and before I decide whether to copy your post to what I think is its correct thread, could you please give your rationale?
From what I saw the course had nothing to do with Paprika's defeat. Phelan Ready would have beaten her on the day had the race been run on Seven Mile Beach.

Deep down Scriven was bittlery disapointed for the way he rode her. im sure if he had it all over again he would of rode her the way he talked about her before the race & that was she was unbeatable .

I agree Leo, it was a very ordinary ride IMHO.
Reading between the lines I think Birchley was possibly a little bit complacent based on his comments in the press - ride her like a good thing or some such.
If anything Scriven overdid it - 3 wide from barrier 6 given Paprika's adaptability and then going early leaving her a sitting duck added up to a good thing beaten.
More generally I don't think Shane is as consistent as he once was - a very high standard admittedly. He does get away with a few up in Brisbane though given the general standard of riding up there.

Twba filly BINGIL BAY was most unlucky at EF today. She wound up 4th, and although beaten 3 lengths should have been at least alongside the winner. She settled midfield one-out, and Taylor decided to come out before the turn. As it happened, Zaha's Pride - who's beaten BB twice already - made things most difficult in the straight, and Taylor was still looking for a run at the 200. It was a commendable effort to get as close as she did. But that won't help pay the bills of those who backed her.
