Have seen numerous posts of miscellaneous stuff relating to Brisbane Racing on various threads.
Think we need a thread set aside for such stuff.

Good to see REIZARB back in action on Saturday.  Looks another race for him to run a place in.  rolleyes

One of his opponents, EMITION, has won two on the Cushion in his only starts from a long spell.  Previous owners gave it away when it broke down badly.  They were stunned to see it entered for a race at Twba last month.  You can imagine their reaction when it WON at huge odds. lol

Yes, the box and no rail will be assets, IMO.  If Jimmy can stay in touch I can see another 1-2-3 finish coming up. unsure

Only a couple of weeks into the season but could Patinack Farm's John Thompson win the Brisbane trainers title?

You never know .

You'd rather bet on if he's there at the end of the season.  If he lasts another 5 months he gets long service leave.

Interesting that smart mare LILLEELAVEE is now in Kelso Wood camp.  Think that's new. chin

And REIZARB is gonna tempt us again on Saturday.  This time over 1200 from gate 7 with C Munce.  Tough race and he's not well in.

Will be interesting to see Birchley's former top 2yo SISTER HAVANA in her comeback run on Saturday.

Stewards pinged Barry Baldwin $200 for "misconduct" to which he pleaded guilty for behaving inappropriately after he was denied access to the enclosure after the running of race 2 in which he had the runner up Rightson. shocked

Possibly a bit dirty about getting beaten  and may have been a bit  fired up  but  still unusual for a trainer  with a runner placed in the race to be denied access.

Obviously  was present in  the stewards room for an inquiry into the tactics on Rightson which has been adjourned to investigate betting on the race. sweat

"An inquiry was opened into the tactics adopted by apprentice J. Wood on RIGHTSON. After taking evidence from J. Wood, trainer B. Baldwin and J. Wood's master, S. Ryan, the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed to enable stewards to investigate the betting transactions on the race.
Trainer B. Baldwin pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct under AR. 175(q) in that after being denied access to the saddling enclosure following the running of Race 2 he behaved inappropriately. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account the circumstances of this case and Mr Baldwin's good record over a long period and imposed a fine of $200."

I backed Rightson.

Didn't see, or hear the race.

Saw it ran second, and shrugged it off as just another of God's punishments for something or other.

HE just seems to have it in for me.

What happened?

Sectionals tell the story JWH.  Poor Judge led them up at a slow pace and they ran the last 600 in 33.94.  He was briefly threatened on the turn but kicked strongly to win fairly easily.  Mathematically impossible for Rightson to get him down though he tried gamely in the straight - he needs a fast clip and a smother to show his best I reckon.  They beat the others convincingly.

Time for the race which was a handicap was 1.39.24 which compares unfavourably with the 0MW won by Mr. Shadow Boxer - 1.38.51 and a 600 sectional of 35.74.  Mambo Flyer ran along at a good clip in the latter (and compounded badly in the last 100m) hence the slower time.

Admittedly the track was upgraded between the running of the two races but in reality very little difference in track condition, I'd have thought.

Right.

What was Barry Baldwin's issue?

Great stuff to see two of our best apprentices fighting out the sprint yesterday:  Mitch Speers on Ulladulla, and Justin Wood on Joint Chiefs.

(If not for Mitch Wood's day off, we almost certainly would have seen a Wood quinella.)

Justin Wood's style is much improved of late.  He'll outride his metro claim for sure.
