Have seen numerous posts of miscellaneous stuff relating to Brisbane Racing on various threads.
Think we need a thread set aside for such stuff.

I note that a jockey in Qld has his father as a steward, on the panel of meetings at which he rides  Undecided

Is this a good thing for racing in Qld?

It will be good thing for racing in Qld if the steward concerned is competent, and absents himself from any deliberations involving his son.

If either of the above aren't met and seen to be met, it won't be.

I noticed ARMED FOR ACTION win in SA over the weekend.

A horse of the same name is joint holder of the 1500m record at EF - set on 24 Jan 1998.

It was a day for fast times.  JUKEBOX KING, owned by a current BRC director, ran the 1800 record on the same day.

Yes, he was a most imposing horse.

Had leg problems from memory and raced in bandages.

Last week at Dbn I backed GC steed TYCOON'S HEART in a 1350 mares' race.

She jumped well but got caught in a crazy speed battle and dropped out.  From memory she lost a plate.  Previous form had been 1200-1400.

Stunned to see her in an 1830 race at EF on Saturday with J Byrne steering.  what

The much-discussed BRIBIE - brother to the mighty WOORIM - resumes in the last tomorrow.  D Browne steering from gate 12.  chin

No surprise that Heathcote didn't fly M Rodd up for the mount. nowink

The most interesting riding engagement tomorrow is journeyman Lyall Appo for SUSASHI in Race 2.

About 30 years ago when I had more money than sense I had $200 the drum on a horse by the name of LIVING DAYLIGHTS in the last at EF.  It was a narrowly beaten 4th, after a not good ride. angry

The Qld Oaks "winner" Crafty Lady resumes at Mornington today in R3.  This is the filly that AT mistook for the real winner.  It has some hope today in a weak affair.

Impressive win by Heathcote steed DEFENCEMAN at Royal Ipswich today.  It was ridden to perfection by visiting Kiwi apprentice Ryan Hurdle, taking over from G Colless.

The horse had just held on to beat COBALT BLUE in its EF Maiden win.

Both won today.

Very surprised to see both horses win today. The maiden at Eagle Farm didn't appear a strong affair at all.
Ryan Hurdle might be a jockey to watch in his time in Australia..Looked extremely well balanced and strong and I'm sure Heathcote will utilise his 2 kg claim to big effect

She was SCR last week, but turned up in an 1800 event at GC and walked in.

Gawd, they're winning everywhere.

Former Qlder RULING PARTY  just won the opener at Broken Hill.  Are there ANY limits?

Take at look at the grin on Qld's leading trainer yesty.  You would think he had just trained a Gp1 winner.  In fact he had only just won with a last stride winner Marked in R2.  Imagine the grin if Buffering and Woorim get amongst the big bucks next week at Flemington in the Newmarket.  Worth going to Flemington just to watch that.

Sadly, this pair may come to blows in June when the Cleveland mafia's Havatryst takes on the Heathcote pair in the Stradbroke.  Vadim is usually the "getaway driver" for the Cleveland mafia on racedays and won't know who to cheer for.

Hi Dubbledee,

I saw your post about my father, Donald Longley, who passed away when I was a small child.  I was wondering if I could get in touch with you, as I'd really like to find out more about him and the colourful life he lived.  Do you have an email address I could reach you at?
