Raining here in Logan, but not sure if it will drift over to Eagle Farm.

Blue sky to the west so might fine up later.

Maybe Albert might stay home today if he doesn't want a heavy track. Have to wait and see.

Wonder what will happen to this showcase place that they built at Canungra?

Trainer Eden Petrie sets goals for Albert The Fat
 comment By Bart Sinclair
November 18, 2008 11:00pm

NEW chum trainer Eden Petrie - who only got his trainer's ticket in October - is resisting the temptation to rush his emerging star Albert The Fat.

Petrie, 38, has a wealth of experience in racing and spent 16 years with Gold Coast trainer John Wallace and a further six years with Ron Quinton at Randwick.

Petrie has entered Albert The Fat for two events at Eagle Farm on Saturday - the $100,000 Keith Noud Quality and the $45,000 Class 6 Handicap, but has opted for the latter.

Claiming apprentice Luke Rolls will ride Albert The Fat in the Class 6 over 1200m.  The horse has been weighted on 58kg.

Albert The Fat emerged as a potential big race winner over the winter carnival with successive wins at Eagle Farm in June and Petrie believes the Magic Albert four-year-old has come of age after a spell.

Petrie was actively engaged as part of the training team for Albert The Fat's last campaign with the official trainer Dale Sutton often required in Victoria to oversee the Wadham Park operation.

Sutton now has severed ties with the Wadham property at Canungra and Petrie has taken a lease on a small block.

While Petrie is taking baby steps with Albert The Fat in the short term, he has his eye on a bigger picture this summer.

"I'm hopeful I can get him back with two Class 6 races this week and another a fortnight later in a set weight race at Doomben and then have a look at the bigger targets," he said.

The three goals Petrie wants to tackle with Albert The Fat are the $200,000 Doomben Stakes (1200m) on December 20; $200,000 Bernborough Handicap (1615m) on December 27; and $500,000 Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on January 10.

Petrie has no doubt Albert The Fat will comfortably extend to a mile this campaign, although the longest of his five wins from eight starts to date has been at 1400m.

"He's been a bit of a handful on the track until this campaign. He's grown physically and mentally and is now working like a horse ready to go up in distance," he said.

Petrie is hopeful the Eagle Farm track will be in reasonably firm condition on Saturday. But at this stage he is committed to running Albert The Fat unless it is a particularly heavy surface.

Slow at Eagle Farm . They would have to be happy with that.

Deleted that comp thread. Probably right in what you say Magic.

Maybe if this forum gets more traffic next year some comps will crop up.

Probably wander into our local TAB later and get 6 different tips for that race.

I'm throwing Vocalic into my multis

BTW with Sensational Toy, is the trainer a rellie of Damian's, and if so how?

If I was a large punter I would wait a little before betting in the last few at Eagle Farm.

Probably be OK but just maybe we will get a early storm

Throw Zavana into my BB for a interest.  Good run and ended up doing that easy.
Trouble is, I only backed it for a place :D

Was really close to having a good day on the punt today ..... ended up only just in front,

But backed Onalar and thought he was extremely unlucky to not have won at $16, then backed up with another good go at Bazooka which I backed a fortnight ago at big odds each way when 2nd,

Then another I really liked Snipers Bullet gets beat a head.

What could have been a $500 day turns out to be only drinks  :smiley

Love backing horses from the north that have been racing in really strong open sprint races like the Cleveland Bay and Rockhampton Newmarket when they come to town ... they know how to carry weight and normally end up against a bunch of class 3 horses  Undecided
