There has been little said on racing forums across the globe about the undefeated Hungarian wonderhorse Overdose. That's no surprise given the racing backwater he hails from and the fact that Overdose is yet to secure a Gr1 victory. Many will see this horse for the first time in 2009 if he heads to the UK as expected for races like the King's Stand.

Some may have seen Overdose on Arc day 2008 in the false start Prix de l'Abbaye. He was the one that sped off in front and was never pulled up when Fleeting Spirit was left in the stalls. Naturally after those exertions Overdose was unable to take part in the re-run hours later. Some visual comparisons between the no race and the re-run farce suggest Overdose would have beaten Marchand D'or that day. Things just didn't go right for the Hungarian in France. Overdose seemed doomed from the moment he stepped onto the Longchamp track with an official idiot getting in his path and being bowled over by the three year old on his way to the gates.

A bit over a month after the Abbaye debacle Overdose turned up in Rome for a Gr3 six furlong race. He took that with ease and was basically in another stratosphere to the opposition. The runner up was around ten lengths adrift that day after being defeated by just under six lengths in the Abbaye re-run.

Overdose has built up a small fanclub online through YouTube. One individual has put together some early racing clips with music. Those races show the lightyear between Overdose and his central European opponents. Watch for the regular muck lather on Overdose who obviously suffers from white line fever. He almost always breaks out between the mounting yard and the starting gates. I can't wait to see this fellow next year as he puts his undefeated status on the line. Form is hard to track down in places like Bratislava but it has been suggested that Overdose remains unbeaten after twelve starts ( It could be more ).

For the compilation piece click on the YouTube link below. You wont see many 1000-1200m races with such a big space between the leader and the rest in your lifetime.

To view the last victory in Rome go to the Cappanelle website, scroll the date for the results down to 16-11-2008 and click "vai". When the result pop up appears click on the film icon next to race three "3 15:45 C. E F. Aloisi (ex Umbria)" and watch the flying machine go!

Well after reading some tripe on a British forum, I am glad he lost.

This is the crap that was posted:

Overdose in Rome
I dont mind what race it i sor where is run, what I rate is the form of the race.

First of all, the performance is so amazing that I can understand some people tend not to believe it.

6f heavy ground, the time is especially good for the heavy ground.

The winner run in the inside , some people can argue the ground vias, but with a big field and plenty of experienced riders of the course, they thought the place to be was more in the middle side.

About the form
Overdose had been dominating many good races in the season and that was the reason for him giving weight to the older horses. In that date a 3yo timeform has a 3yo with a pound to receive with the older horses in that distance.

My rating for the performance is 143+
Using 2.82pounds per length and giving 5 pounds for the ease of the victory, the figure is very conservative with all the field not running their top rating( what is unlikely for a race of this kind)
I had given him 3 figures in the 3 german races he had won, posting 122+. 115+, 124+, beating good fields and posting good times in impressive style.

Then the Prix Abbaye in Longchamp, that day beating 2 horses by a wider margin and in a faster time , on possibly slower ground than Marchand Dor.

About the Rome nce, the beaten horses:
Black Mambazo (102) on the day after running a 103 in Longchamp in the Abbaye, on his next run he runs a 103 in Dubai in a handicap. In mMay posted another 102 in rome and afterwards he run a good race to be beaten b y Taxk Free posting a 117, he won a race in between this and the Abbaye where he was beaten by 1l ¾ by Total Gallery posting a 115.

Titus Shadow,(106) on the day, gr3 winner and listed winner since then.
Gesture, (104), very consistent since in this region of figures.
Lindiscreta (90), gr3 winner in his next start beating Leaps Arrow. Something like 106 for that.
Reykon (86), listed winner since.
Polar Wind, listed winner and posting much higher RPR after and before this.
Docksil, listed winner in the precious one beating BM.

And I can continue with the rest of beaten horses.

You don’t win gr3 in Italy or in Germany with horse worse than 104, as you has seen with Worthadd, they are not so bad, what Overdose did to this field is something that has to be seen to be believe, on visual seeing in the youtube video, the winning distance could be even bigger than 10l and the horse eased a little bit in the post,

The performance this year, impossible to rate but my feeling is a 130++.

I rate Black Caviar very high, but so far she has not posted a 140 nce, I want to see her in England next season and lets hope she is able to prove.

At the moment she is superior to Hay List and looks top class but I have to see her here or in Hong Kong against an interanitonal field.

About Overdose
not so sexy profile and not so spectacular to see sprinters on softer ground but just imagine what could have been this horse trained in a better centres, treated by a better vets and better facililties.
