If there's already a thread on this maybe the following could be transferred. Saturday 6 Dec 08 two good things beaten
Doomben R4 Express Air missed the start completely settled well back and stormed home to run second Should have won for sure .

Caulfield R5 Keano had no luck at all wherever it went found trouble, not one of Boss's best rides, but was most unlucky finished close up 6th.

I know it was a little while ago.. but Elizabethan was almost a certainty beaten in the Wodonga Cup, didn't think he'd keep going for 3rd.

BAREENA raced very well today at the GC a fast finishing 4th Can be followed with confidence particularly if connections go to the mares race next rather than the MM Cup.

CANNY FINCH races Sat at Randwick in a race to suit .Top rated and opposition looks ordinary. Thumb Up

Unfortunately the rider on BAREENA was well truly outpointed by the Sydneysider, especially entering the straight.  As a backmarker with McMahon as a regular rider I reckon there will be lots of tears but not much moola.  Guy and his connections are paying a high price for loyalty IMHO.

Personally I thought FANGLES did a good job at Randwick today - now in Sydney with Gerald Ryan, Quinnell maybe went too hard on it and it was only cut down in the shadows.  This horse always puts in and has the gate speed to take advantage of a good draw as was seen today.  He goes better held up a little and over slightly longer - say 1200m.  Not sure where he will go now though.

At first glance some fair performances from GC today including BROOKE'S COMMAND (Race 1), ARIZONA SUNSET (Race 2), JESSIE STREET (Race 4), MEET GEORGE (Race 5) (as mentioned elsewhere) and HAVAYARN (Race 6).

Finally I don't think Scriven was seen to advantage on BEST BID (Race cool.  I get the impression he is not the easiest horse to ride and he is getting quite costly but he couldn't rev up until late - perhaps it was the weight or maybe he is looking for longer.  Maybe one more chance.

Canny Finch didn't run up to expectations yesterday at Randwick, settled three back on the fence and couldn't get clear until the race was all over. and never looked a winning chance Looked like running into third close to home but it appeared that the jock stopped riding before the line and it was swamped by the swoppers and ran 5th.Might be worth another chance but not one to put the school money on. shy
