Anyone know why they were running 1100m races on Saturday?  Can't remember seeing them before, after seeing a couple, don't really want to see them again.

They've given the chop to the 1000m races as it was an awful start that jumped straight onto the turn. Ask any jockey, they hate riding from the 1000m start at the Gold Coast. The 1100m start is much better and gives them a better run to the first turn.

I have no problem with them not racing 1000m races, that was a shocking start, I just can't see the 1100m is that much, if at all,  better.

Why not just run 900m & 1200m races anyway?

Tend to agree Manikato, but either way, glad to see the back of the 1000m races.

first race at gold coast last saty was a lowly 2200m maiden but the winner raw sienna had them covered as far as 800m from home, he won by 10 lens and took 2 seconds off long standing 2200m maiden class record and only 2/1oths off track record. had run  3rd prev start 2200m cushion track, have not seen one win so easily in long time, by strategic from my sienna who was handy mare, one to follow as the further they get the weaker the horses.

Raw Sienna is a nice enough type and has always raced below his looks.
Blinkers on first time on Saturday may be the key to him.
His next start will tell us what his future is

I notice HELIDECK is now with G Ryan and is an acceptor for GC on Monday.

Was it two years ago that this fellow looked a top class sprinter? chin

We got $10 place about APUCKSHUNUBBEE when he ran 3rd at GC last outing.

Been a while since he's raced, but he steps up to 2200 this afternoon at Royal Ipswich.  Is reputedly not a wet tracker. chin

Solid effort by the Bailey steed to set the speed and go under narrowly.  I think we'll see a fair stayer on firm ground.

SANTO DE LAGO has found another ordinary draw tomorrow.  Would prefer longer, but with a fair passage, he looks a winner of Race 5.

SANTO is a very smart racehorse.  Shame he's developed a distinct aversion to proving it. lol

Was a good win today.

Young Kenny Pope is trekking to GC tomorrow.  I notice he's riding Thorondo, who won his Mdn at GC when ridden by KP at odds of $100+.
