Apache Cat strode a strong 800 metres in 50.5 seconds on the all-weather, zipping home the last 400 metres in 22.5, which pleased his trainer Greg Eurell. "He had a good gallop which is what we wanted. He's settled in so well here I think he was looking forward to a bit of decent work," Eurell said.
Eurell reported that the striking six-year-old was 530 kg on landing last week but had put on condition in the past few days. "He's 540 kilos (kilograms) now and that's around his optimum racing weight. It's a good indicator with him. He was 538 kilos when he last raced in Western Australia.
"He's eating and drinking as you'd hope and I would say he has settled in very, very well," Eurell said.

He's drawn barrier 2 which people seem to be happy with- but is this no longer run down a straight as it was in the old days?

pretty sure it was extended from 1000m to 12oo - think falvelon won over 1000, 1200 m starts have been round the bend as long as i've been following sha tin - not that long

I'd expect the horse drawn inside him ( Moorhouse Lad gate one ) to kick up early and show some toe for a fair way. I can see Apache settling midfield with the leaders going fairly quickly.

Not sure what happened there, The Cat appeared to be struggling not long after turning for home, but got going again late and to be beaten 1/2 length for 3rd Either way never let his supporters down, goes to show what a great job Takeover does to be so competitive overseas

Bit unlucky not to win.
I've always felt he was a 1400m horse and today it looked like it
Flat footed and then chopped out as he was pegging them back.
Thought there may have been a protest
