Cassidy argued his case well.
Seems the stewards gave short shrift to his intial contention that had the winner not cut across, chopping him off, he would have had the lead, for which he had worked,and been able to stack them up and scoot away for the win.
I thought that that was drawing a long bow but it was well argued.
Frankly I was surprised that Cassidy should show so much passion in a hearing that, had he been successful, would have elevated him from third to second.

noticed change of trainer for salade, which blitzed them in the pago pago then only fair in the golden slipper. from bart to gwenda markwell. entered in a strong trial randwick on friday.

Some good backing for R7 #6 Balmont since markets opened. Guy Walter gave this horse a big rap last week - think it was scratched. Won first up last time in the same class with 53 Kg, then ran 2nd to Ortensia down the straight at Flemington.
Also has been some money for one of Wallers - R4 #11 Merchandise - who is second up over 1800m. Only had 8 starts to date winning 3 of them and the in form JC to ride.
