We've got a long-running thread on Sydney Racing. Let's start one for Brissie.

Let's see if young Bobby can pay off some of yesterday's fine on the BJ Smith mare in the next. $1.63.

MONCALIERI is $8 for the class six Saturday, I think Web of Love the favourite is a good horse but does go better on affected ground, MONCALIERI on the other hand is hitting a good track for the first time since it's impress first up win, awkward draw but only 51KGs on it's back

What a disgraceful run by the mare. Must be something wrong.

Don't know what Katsidis was playing at there.
I couldn't see anything wrong with the ride on MT. She never travelled but ran OK. Katsidis' ride on Maid Of Falvelon was very ordinary though. If he was in HK he would be answering a charge with 12 months for it

Good gate was back to 2nd last within a few hundred meter with out instructions too, suspect IMO.

There were a few others in the race whose connections were wishing their jocks had done the same as Stathi had done from the jump. The race was a mess-up and the back was definitely the place to be. She was merely disappointing in the run home, IMO. Maybe the inside run didn't appeal to her.

DJH, do you really think SK - or any other jockey worth a cracker - would run the risk of a penalty when he's looking at a Spring Carnival full of glory?
Your post implies something untoward, IMO.
From what I saw of the race, MOF went like a hobbled camel.

From what I saw of the race, MOF went like a hobbled camel. Yeah I agree that it is a risky move backing high profile jocks in midweeks and provs at carnival time. I am prepared to give Stathi the benefit of the doubt regarding his intentions as the stewards have. The fact is though it looked a 2 horse race 1 went to the front (ie the best backed) the other went to last with no effort at all from the jockey to retain a forward position after sitting on pace at its only other start. With the rail out 8.5m at Doomben you are a small chance of coming from well back and winning. MOF was actually the only horse in the race who made ground and was a very good run, but was given no chance of winning- hence my HK remarks.

DJH, I know - and I'm sure you do too - that the majority of Brissie racing people are doing it tough and would not miss an opportunity to win a race - anywhere.

I am not sure who you are including in that category, but I would agree very few owners would be keen to see their short priced horse get beaten

Yeah, Tevez. Moncalieri is definitely in contention. She's slightly disadvantaged at the set weights (relative to Chilled) but not as bad as some. I just hope she hasn't been comparing notes with her kennel-mate, Beautiful.
I would have backed Chilled last night at $1.95, if it wasn't for the threat of deductions. Looks an ideal race for him, even with the back-up. Eureka will be ready to run well, and I see value chances in Shaos, Break the Ice, and Kings Artist.

What do you base that logic on DD ? ....Qld Handicappers ratings when weights were released ?..... Something else ?
