Mimi Lebrock wins barrier trial

Magic Millions winner Mimi Lebrock showed she was on track for the spring with a barrier trial win at Hawkesbury on Monday morning.

By the time the two-year-old filly's heat was run, the track had been downgraded from slow to heavy but she handled it well to beat Perfectly Poised by a length in 47.08, the fasted of the 760m trials for the youngsters.

Bart Cummings will set Mimi Lebrock on the path towards the $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 1.

Because her prizemoney of almost $600,000 in the restricted Magic Millions in January did not count towards Golden Slipper qualification, Mimi Lebrock failed to gain a berth in the two-year-old showpiece.

What a great race this has become so quickly. Any chance of another Paratroopers or Court Command, speaking of which where is Court Command?

Anthony Cummings reckons Solo Flyer is spot-on for the Golden Rose. The slick 3YO ran strongly at Rosehill on Sat and underlined his prospects for the $1million Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on Sep 1.

AC says: 'He wasn't suited when the pace slackened mid-race and he's not really a sprinter so he's doing this on raw ability...He'll get better as his races get longer.'

The Golden Rose, the Sydney Turf Club’s premier spring race, has been rescheduled to the autumn at Rosehill Gardens on March 15 – Silver Slipper day.

Kingda Ka broke the class record in the Tryst Food & Wine Hcp over 1400m (yesterday) with a time of 1:24.67, his last 600m in a blistering 33.46s. Gai Said he Kinda Ka would head for the million dollar Golden Rose, postponed since 1 September 2007 due to EI.
