Whats the difference with day night 50/50 matches, why is there no major problems with that form of the game at night ?
The difference is the quality of the ball, and the impact of bowling. In the 50 over game they use 2 balls, one from either end, but they wear and soften quickly. 50/50 game is a batting dominated game, with pitches prepared accordingly, rarely do we see a bowler get much from it, and or it last past the opening overs. Test's would be a real problem I would have thought. A hard new ball, that can retain its shine, can be swung, and later can be spun effectively balances the game such that quality bowling has an influence on the game. I don't have a problem with a day night Test. But I would have a problem it we lost the balance and influences of the game.

But there are. A lot of day nighters in India (or at least used to) have an extended drinks break so they can remove the dew from the ground. I doubt there would be an issue in OZ unless you extended the season to October or march.

It's got little to do with the dew on the ground it's the atmosphere. Look at our guys in the test, they can't swing the ball an inch. get them at night and the pill swings and seams. It's the same in many one day games as well. The last match was an example. the ball did a lot more for the aussies at night than it did the pakis during the day

I should have said four-piece six-stitcher.
Although there has been far more in the pitches this summer for the bowlers compared with last summer, would a swinging ball be even better for test cricket ? Lets face it, the game is far too in favor of batting these days, perhaps a swinging ball would be a good thing ?

Apologies for some of the language.

Bollinger has been the find of the season for mine.
He's probably now pretty much an automatic selection for all forms of the game.
Wouldn't you say?
Twelve months ago he'd have probably been number four for NSW.

Has anyone been watching Hazelwood today?
A mate sent me a message saying it was as impressive a spell as he has seen in a while(I didn't see it).
Took 2-22 off his 10. He is 19 in January, and has had a good start at shield level so far for one so young.
Man of the Match in the U-19 world Cup final with 4/30.

Is the current one day format the most idiotic idea. Watching these Aust v XXXX then Aust v XXXXX is just pointless.

Unfortunately I think channel NINE did not like the games that did not involve Australia in the triangular series.

That figures...in the old days they'd just play those matches as a day game in Tasmania !
I've sort of given up on cricket since 20/20.
I just wonder what the attendance/viewing numbers are for the current format?

Interested to see a photograph in this morning's Age newspaper of the "hot spot" technology used for umpiring decisions clearly shows that the toupee Doug Bollinger wears could not hide the fact that he is clearly bald.
