French Derby winner Lawman continued his progress with a stylish victory in the Gr1 Prix Jean Prat over a Mile at Chantilly yesterday. The weather turned foul early in the day and the going was a lot worse than the offical Good To Soft. Lawman's victory was softer than the official margin as well. The son of Invincible Spirit looks likely to tackle an open age Gr1 Mile in France next before a possible tilt at the Irish Champion. He continues to improve at every outing and looks to handle a variety of going. I'd like to see him on some firmer ground soon so he doesn't get a reputation he may not deserve. I'd blame hold up tactics for an earlier defeat on Good ground. That form has been swiftly reversed since and going can't be entirely at fault.
