This thread is for the RIDE OF THE WEEK in Brisbane and SE Qld tracks.

It doesn't have to be a good ride - but one that's attracted your attention.

Brisbane's been the nursery for some of Australia's best jockeys - although most "experts" would argue that they don't really get to be champions until they get to Sydney or Melbourne.

How long till Larry Cassidy gets ROTW?

He's scored a full book for the meetings at EF and Dbn, riding for the leading stables.

A rather spectacular entrance to the Brisbane riding scene. Thumb Up

Yes, the real BODY DOUBLE turned up yesterday.  Was only a matter of it being the same one we saw win at Twba last year.  Nice effort by the stablemate, just the same. Thumb Up

It didn't take long.  I'm giving my gong to LARRY CASSIDY for his win on Funtantes.

Sure, the filly was odds-on and expected to win, but things weren't looking too rosy at the 700 when she was wide and chasing behind the speed after being slowly away.  She's still learning to race, and it was Cassidy's experience that straightened her up and sent her home for a convincing win.

Yes it was a good win bless her big heart.

Maybe Larry was a tad nervous with the expectations placed on him but he did manage to get her home.

I'd also say the filly has a good future, especially when she learns what its all about.

Interesting the mare of the winner had 3 others that were to start yesterday at Eagle farm before one of them was scratched.

Trainer Rob Heathcote musta watched the same race as I did:

Trainer Rob Heathcote: “She’s very good there is no doubting that. But did you notice how, when things didn’t work out ... she missed the start, held wide ... did you see what Cassidy did? He eased her out of the speed battle, balanced her up, waited until the right time ... did you see a couple of times she dipped up the straight ... he never went for her until he had to.

Above from Graham Potter's review:
