Clifford Park, Toowoomba, is one of the State's largest training centres, supplying many winners to tracks around SE Qld.
In a controversial move, the Toowomba Turf Club installed a new Cushion track as the course proper in the first half of 2009.
The first meeting on the new surface was held on Saturday, July 11, 2009. The meeting was run in the late afternoon/evening under "metropolitan conditions" and included the historic Weetwood Handicap and Toowoomba Cup. Before a crowd of 8000, visitor VOICE COMMANDER won the Weetwood for young Nick Olive; JUSSEMI won the Cup for local Rex Lipp.
Let's use this thread for comments on racing at Toowoomba.

Locally-bred and Twba-trained REDIBIS was convincing in her first-start win on Saturday afternoon.
Connections were quite confident she would run a race but were spooked by the pre-race "hype" surrounding a couple of opponents.
The filly wasn't listening, and bounded to the lead and didn't look like getting beaten.
She'll have her next run at GC in a Prelude. Then maybe on to the MM.

Good win by the consistent DESDEMONA at Clifford Park yesterday.
This Pat Duff trained mare disposed of a good field very stylishly running out a strong 1300m. BINGIL BAY who is eligible for much easier races was also impressive running on strongly.

Friday was certainly a day to remember at Clifford Park.
1. We finally saw the much-discussed CLASSIC FORCE do what we've been expecting for several months. Whitely got the 4yo going early and he was never going to lose. He's capable of winning again, too.
2. As coins as said, DESDEMONA looked good winning the F&M Trophy. Not that we didn't already know how good she was, but connections have finally been rewarded with a nice win. Also following on from coins, BINGIL BAY's run was a great effort. 3yo taking on the older mares, she tried hard after being wide from the jump.
3. In the last, the Maund-trained RHODAMINE repaid connections a fair bit of the fine that arose from a recent positive swab. She went to the lead early and just ran away from them.
4. Other winners HEART and MANSTON put in good efforts and look certain to score in the metro area before long. DRUMSHANBO is another who'll be ringing up No 1 in the near future.

The filly has drawn the outside.
Not much exposed form in the race. She began well at Twba on debut, but she'll need to activate the turbo tomorrow.

RHODAMINE is an acceptor in the last at GC tomorrow. She's taking on a hot field.

4yo gelding KNEEL AND RAISE hasn't produced the good when brought to town, but he look OK winning last night. Goltz was forced to lead early, and the Dane Supreme neddy fought on to win well. He'll be meeting stiffer opposition, but is worth another chance in the metro area.

This fellow goes around in the last at Royal Ipswich. No luck again in the draw, and it's a very good race.
