Clifford Park, Toowoomba, is one of the State's largest training centres, supplying many winners to tracks around SE Qld.

In a controversial move, the Toowomba Turf Club installed a new Cushion track as the course proper in the first half of 2009.

The first meeting on the new surface was held on Saturday, July 11, 2009.  The meeting was run in the late afternoon/evening under "metropolitan conditions" and included the historic Weetwood Handicap and Toowoomba Cup.  Before a crowd of 8000, visitor VOICE COMMANDER won the Weetwood for young Nick Olive; JUSSEMI won the Cup for local Rex Lipp.

Let's use this thread for comments on racing at Toowoomba.

I haven't taken note of RATTLE 'N' RUN before, but he looked OK last night.  Ex-Vic HEART was expected to win again.  RNR seemed to beat him fair and square coming from well back.

RNR had beaten DRUMSHANBO on Boxing Day.  While the latter got beaten yesterday at Ipswich I wouldn't be sacking him.  He didn't see the lure from the bad draw, and I'd like to see him on a bigger track with a stronger rider.

DRUMSHANBO looked a handy galloper winning on his home track last night.   No fancy odds, but a winner is a winner.  Hope we see the gelding in town soon.

RATTLE 'N' RUN is an acceptor for Doomben tomorrow.  Race 6, the yellow.

Stox And Blondes in the last, this is a tip purely on pedigree.

Good price, good jockey, no idea who the jockey is, Fair trainer.

Show A Heart out of a Rory's Jester mare that will do me in this 1200m maiden.

She's driven more than one of us to the deep end, but Jugah mare JUGERSTON gets another chance to win her Maiden in the last at Toowoomba tonight.

Maybe she'll hold the honour of winning the last race to be held on GRASS at Clifford Park.   Then again, maybe not. unsure

Those that have been together on this and TNHRCF will tell you that we have had a lot of fun betting up on the range.

If it hadn't rained we probably would have went up for the last race on the grass. wink
