Sundays wouldn't be the same without racing at Corbould Park, Caloundra.
It's SE Qld's newest track, and is home to Qld's first Cushion Track.
Caloundra currently races on around 70 dates each year, and will soon be a night venue for Saturday (and maybe Sunday) fixtures.
Let's keep this thread for comments on racing at Sunshine Coast.

Thanks Jen. I think if she didn't win that one I might have given ownership away forever.

Do the showers on the way over next few days warrant a shift again to cushion on Sunday? Any locals with thoughts?

Maybe I'm on the wrong tread, but:
Is it better to have a meeting cancelled than for it to be held on the cushion track?

Most meetings can go ahead on the Grass JWH, it's just that as soon as they get a snif of rain, the transfer it. What did they do before the Cushion ? From memory, they would have been lucky to have had 3 or 4 cancelled in the last 10 years, somebody may want to correct me if I am wrong

For what it is worth ...... The biggest meeting of the year last year at Caloundra on the 27th June was run on one of the heaviest tracks I have seen for 2 decades ....they ran 2 races on the cushion before going to the grass , and the grass played remarkably safe which we had come to expect from the Caloundra track which has proven over the decades to be one of the best wet weather tracks around ..... Obviously they couldn't transfer that meeting to the cushion given the days prizemoney levels , but it's quite hypocritical that they raced that day on one of the wettest tracks you can get , yet for their lessor meetings these days , they transfer to cushion when a groundsman takes a leak on the outside rail at the 800m mark ............. I am not about to research the point , but my gut feel is that over the last 10 years+ , you could count the amount of abandoned meetings at Caloundra on one hand ( the only ones I can recall off the top of my mind , were mid-meeting due to bad vision!) ..... but it's a mute point , as if they could race safely on the 27th June last year on that bog track , they can race safely on ANY wet track on the grass at Caloundra ! So....entertaining the thought that the cushion is preventing meetings from being abandoned ..... ridiculous ! Cheers

One abandoned mid meeting due to poor visibility after Race 5.Nothing to do with the state of the track.

That would have been the same case with the Cushion also, visibility, is normally when it is raining that heavy jocks can't see where they are going, which also effects the Cushion
