Plenty of cloud overhead, and forecast is not too encouraging.  However, the tracks would have had only around 15 mm in the last 24 hr and virtually nothing since midday yesterday.

Under-estimate EF as a great wet-weather track at your peril.  It would be quite raceable now.  While it mightn't dry as quickly as Dbn, it handles water very well.

The fate of Saturday's meeting is in the lap of the weather gods.  Little rain between now and Satdy and there'll be no problem.  If the forecasters' predictions come true, we're no hope.

The limited number of horses that trainers are willing to race on Cushion is already exhausted with 3 meetings in 3 days in SEQ.

From QRL

Update on the Eagle Farm course proper

Queensland Racing Limited chairman of stewards, Mr Wade Birch and racecourse development manager, Mr Warren Williams have just concluded a track inspection at Eagle Farm.

Following the inspection Mr Birch has taken the decision to reassess the Eagle Farm track as a Heavy 9.

“This decision follows continued overcast weather conditions in addition to the course being inundated with 163mm of rainfall since last Saturday, where the meeting finished with a Slow 7 rating,” said Mr Birch.

“There is no doubt that the track is genuinely in the very heavy category and there are parts of the back straight that are bordering on Heavy 10. The prevailing weather conditions will dictate the fate of Saturday’s Tattersall’s Racing Club meeting and any measurable rainfall prior to the first race will place the meeting in doubt.

“Following last Saturday’s meeting I had concerns regarding poor visibility and this will be another consideration should we receive any rainfall prior to the meeting. It is my responsibility to ensure the provision of a safe working environment for both horse and rider, and this will be top of mind when considering the fate of Saturday’s meeting.

“I have asked that two horses go over the track on Saturday morning in the presence of stewards to assist with the provision of an accurate track rating for Saturday. Should we be in receipt of any overnight rain, I will bring this forward to Friday morning.”

Some interesting graphs on the S.E Qld dam levels.

Wivenhoe hasn't been full for ovver a decade.

But was at 137% full, now isn't that mathmatically impossible, howcan you have a glass off water 137% full chin

Just a guess, MagiC....100% (full) is to the top of the spillway.  When water is released, that excess volume is then added to the 100% level?

37% of Wivenhoes capacity, is a hell of a lot of water Undecided

I can't really remember 1998, but must have been a really wet year shy

Hopefully they lift water restrictions now, we on the Sunny Coast are throwing water away, but are still on restrictions, I believe the Gold Coast is the same

Another possibility is that there was a change in the measurement of 100%?

I don't wanna think about how one would determine the capacity of a dam. lol

No rain in recent days, but humidity remains high and the forecasters seem to have condensation on their spectacles.

There's a meeting set down for EF on Friday.

Must have been a bomb scare at EF, looking at today's scratching list. Sad

On cue, the sou'-easters came in yesterday arve, bringing showers overnight.  Looks like there's more to come.

Hard to predict track conditions for the weekend, but seems SLOW is a reasonable starting point.

Dry & blowy south of the border since 10am or so.

Hows EF looking?

The way its been gusting down here it may dry out quicker than we thought & they may be race on something better than  a Heavy 8, or am i dreaming?  embarrassed
