On Melbourne Cup eve 2008 I dreamt that I could see the name of the cup winner.......but the lettering in the name was very indistinct, all I could make out was it had 6 letters. Upon collecting the morning paper, I VIEWED the list of runners a little too casually, and didn't see anything with six letters. Forgot about it after that, and very fortunately for me, I was on VIEWED as it came out as a selection in my normal selection processes. About 10 minutes after the Cup it dawned on me....v-i-e-w-e-d.......flubba flubba dubba  wacko  wacko  wacko

...no, but Ashita won yesterday, and according to SW it means 'tomorrow' in japanese... so if you're having ashita-day today that kinda counts in a roundabout way smiley

If a punter resorts to backing omens/hunches etc to find a winner they have no hope. After any race a punter could have any reason as to why a particular won a race."it  had umpteen letters in its name", "my aunty had a dog by that name", "I saw the trainer when shopping yesterday", "I dreamt those colours", etc etc etc. Every winner is backed somewhere by someone who might have any reason for backing it. however, if an omen bet or hunch does not win who would be the wiser?

The Oscars were awarded last night..here a few horses that ran today... Flawless Choice,Smart Choice,Norma Genie,Broadway Revival, Lost Oscar,All That Sparkles,Party Crowd, Sparkling Occasion, The Joker..all of which could in someway associated with the awards.
Hindsight is a marvellous gift and is a bit like backfitting where scammers show profits on past results to sell a betting system.

Arakaan

The Subject matter is titled " Re: OMEN tips/ results" that seems pretty clear to me that the original post was referring to wins and results of omens which is  logical for a racing forum.

Big Wheel

If you had read my post I said ever winner will be backed somewhere by someone who has some reason for backing it. If Lost Oscar had won race 7 @ Kyneton today someone would have claimed to have backed it..it lost, however, the winner Buddy Amazing, was probably backed by half the Hawthorn football team.

Buddy Amazing isn't your typical omen today though.
IF it won on the day or day after Hawthorn won the flag then it becomes an omen.

The Joker won today, the day after Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his portrayal of same in Dark Knight.
If The Joker won next week it wouldn't have the same relevance.

ps I actually should have backed Buddy Amazing today cause I had just watched a recorded episode of the Beverley Hillbillies, starring Buddy Ebsen as Jed Clampett  tongue

Tips are just that. When did the word tip become interchangeable with the word bet.

results are just that as well. Hard to get a bet on after the race.

better inform all the media of this new use of the english language, bubba. I mean we all know how pedantic you are about them and the use of the english language. wink
