Coutesy of Turf Monthly daily news;

It is with a considerable degree of sadness for His Excellency Nasser Lootah and all concerned with Emirates Park to report that stud stalwart Secret Savings (USA) met with his demise a few days before Christmas following a long-term battle with laminitis.

One of the cornerstones of the Emirates Park racing and breeding enterprise, Secret Savings was forced out of service at the beginning of the 2008 breeding season when incapable of covering his intended book of mares.

Following a tendon operation undertaken to bring relief to the injury and hopefully rectify the problem longterm, Secret Savings was put in a cast but subsequently broke a humerus.

No other decision could be made but to humanely destroy the imported son of Seeking the Gold in order to put him out of his suffering.

Emirates Park director of operations Dr Sahu and his staff had done everything in their powers to manage the problem over a number of years and probably extended the stud career of Secret Savings by a handful of years due to their professionalism and expert care.

In such time, Secret Savings has enhanced his name as one of Australia's most consistent stallions and he will long be remembered as one of the finest
representatives of the Mr Prospector sireline ever to become available to
domestic broodmare owners.

At the time of his death, Secret Savings was accredited with 265 individual winners of which no fewer than 36 are stakes horses.

In 2008 alone, Secret Savings was represented by the Group/Listed winners Swiss Ace (QTC Sir Byrne Hart S-G2), Caymans (MRC Sandown Guineas-G3) and Acorns (QTC J.F. Meynink S-L), as well as another three stakes placegetters.

However, Secret Savings will best be remembered for his success in the Group 1 AJC Doncaster Handicap in the red, blue and white colours of His Excellency Nasser Lootah, and for siring the triple Group 1 winning racemare Shamekha, who also raced in the livery of Emirates Park’s principal.

The 2009 yearling sales series will see the penultimate crop of Secret
Savings offered for sale, beginning with the Magic Millions Gold Coast premier
sessions staged during the second week of January.
