Let's see if there's interest in a thread setting out the meetings we'll be betting on in the upcoming week.

reading birchs meandering dialogue has the time come for track covers similar to the cricket....surely some crew in china{like the batts} could build em cheap....drape em from inside rail out and protect track for days prior...we have plastic running rails so why not a plastic "cover" that shields the majority of torrential rain away from the racing surface to the ground on either side....in queensland alone it would return millions to stakeholders in prizemoney lost
lets see when blistered bob comes up with plastic running rails first

are the dams full dd?

Wivenhoe 80% Ted E, Sommerset overflowing, and all running into Wivenhoe, so it would be quite possible that it could reach 90% by the time this rain stops  smiley

The question is, what happens if Wivenhoe reaches 100%, isn't it supposed to be for flood protection ?

If it is full, then it can't stop any floods from engulfing Brisbane can it ?

ted

Dams at the track are full.  A shot was posted on the weather thread.

Re track covers, we have enough nonsense in racing without adding another one.  While they sound OK in theory, in practice they wouldn't prevent run-off and seepage.   The end result would be a track of varying moisture content, and something that was potentially dangerous.  What would happen during a race meeting?

I don't even wanna think about storage and handling - let alone the manipulation - of a cover that's 2km long and 50m wide. chin

good problem to have....as the billion dollar poo pipeline rusts and qld revolts against anna the damned.....full dams are a good problem for you guys to have....now just need a solution to woomba....the best always has been to pump from the mighty burdekin system and all of beatties and blighs squandered money on de-sel,poo pipes and travesty dam would have paid for the pipeline twice over would it have not?kev could have attached his hollow 45 billion NBN to it nowink

Not that I'm aware of gov.

Only one person in Qld has a say in that.

You're aware we've lost one race from the midweeks to (part) "fund" the Saturday NQ meetings. chin

Likewise.
From a horsemans point of viewI don't agree with the idea of the artificial surface, but from a punters I am quite happy at the moment.
Until the really big boys step in anyway
