Hi all

This is my first post. what

I backed Cavan Dancer, R5 Wyong today and thought it won convincingly by a length, but, protest upheld.

JT on SKY said "head on is not available for viewing" so I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether the stewards were correct in their decision.

RACE 8: Rosehill Gardens Handicap 1300m:
Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer Ms W Ings to withdraw Merconman due to the downgrade of the track from Good (3) to Dead (5). Subsequently Merconman was withdrawn at 2.10pm. On return to scale a protest was lodged by J Cassidy, rider of 3rd placegetter, Oakfield Commands, against Kinnersley (App. A Hyeronimus) being declared the winner on the grounds of interference approaching the 800m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned, included J Penza, rider of Country Hustle, which was positioned between Kinnersley and Oakfield Commands, the Stewards found that, whilst Country Hustle was checked at that point of the race and Oakfield Commands received some tightening, however, bearing in mind the margins of a short neck by a head, also taking into account the incident occurred prior to the 800m, whereby when crossed by Kinnersley, Oakfield Commands was able to come immediately to the outside of the heels of that runner and have an unimpeded run and further taking into account that, in the view of the Stewards, Kinnersley safely held Oakfield Commands over the final stages, the Stewards dismissed the objection. At a subsequent inquiry App. A Hyeronimus pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he shifted in when insufficiently clear of Country Hustle approaching the 800m, checking that runner and taking Country Hustle in onto Oakfield Commands, which was tightened. After taking into account App. Hyeronimus’ guilty plea, the Stewards issued a penalty of eight meetings. App. Hyeronimus’ permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 29 January 2012 and to expire on Thursday, 16 February 2012, on which day he may ride. Bruadar jumped out badly at the start, checking Mustard, taking Mustard out and hampering Procyon and Agent Bauer. Agent Bauer, which was overracing, ran out across the heels of Think Mink on the first turn. Near the 250m Country Hustle, which was weakening quickly, overreacted when bumped by Procyon. A post-race veterinary examination of Kinnersley revealed the gelding to have a laceration to the off hind heel. On the home turn Mustard had to be restrained off the heels of Portos when taken out by Think Mink. Romanus was held up in the early part of the straight.

All they need to argue is the fact Scholfield never stops riding to straighten manawanui and avoid hitting wild and proud and they'll get it as they did bump and the margin is small.

Watching Nash Rawiller in that protest room it is no wonder he lost the Magic Millions protest.

Absolute, rolled-gold, UPHOLD.

What on earth was Richard Freedman prattling on about?

As we saw at GC, Nash Rawiller should say nothing in a protest hearing - or have someone speak on his behalf.  Schofield was surely kidding with the "defence" he put forward.

And why Murrihy waffled on for about 5 minutes in giving the panel's decision is beyond me.  Give the decision IMMEDIATELY it's made so punters can get on with their day.  Great Idea

If press and connections wanna hang around to hear the stewards' reasoning, let them.  But don't waste our time.  Thumb Down

Why do they even bother asking these people questions. There is no need for any enqiry involving anybody ALL the stewards need is the film.

Looked clear cut upheld for mine.
Manawaui ran in and bumped the inside horse with margin being a nose.

I was betting in the run yesterday and right at the death someone offered up $90 on Manawanui. I was pretty fast but someone beat me to it. They obviously had hit the wrong button and would have been one happy camper when the protest was upheld sweat
