Think this Guy deservers his own thread yeh ??

Ran 56.3 on a dead track and demolished what I thought was a handy sprinter in Azzaland  Undecided

On a good track he runs at least 55.8 i guess ??

Just took a re-look at BB's run.  The quality of Scriven's ride cannot be over-stated.  The horse didn't jump brilliantly but SS shook him up and inched across in front of those drawn near him to take a clear lead.  To hold him together into a wind was the ride of master.  I reckon even Shane was surprised when BB strode away at the 250.

Bring on the autumn. Thumb Up

All the driver had to do was ensure the headlights were pointed in the right direction...the motor did the rest.

Burdekin headed home after Cup week win

Burdekin Blues is headed back to Brisbane after his dominant win in the $150,000 Listed Grazia Ultimate Style Guide Stakes (1100m) at Flemington during the Cup carnival.

Trainer Barry Baldwin and owner Tom Sheahan have changed plans for the son of Sequalo, who was initially going to stay in Melbourne for a race at Sandown on November 14.

Burdekin Blues has a summer plan marked out to ensure he will be at his best for a return to Melbourne for the Lightning Hcp (1000m) at Flemington on January 30.

Baldwin said the Group 3 George Moore Stks (1200m) at Doomben on December 5 would be Burdekin Blues' next target.

The gelding will then head towards the Bat Out Of Hell sprint (900m) at the Gold Coast on January 2 in his final hitout before returning south.

Baldwin said there was not enough time to send Burdekin Blues out for a brief spell and then ensure he was at his peak for the Flemington dash.

"We'll take him back to Melbourne and we can give him a look at Caulfied before the Oakleigh Plate so we can get an indication if he will handle the track," Baldwin said.

"Tom will have the final word on how far we go in the campaign because he knows this horse pretty well."

Burdekin Blues was untroubled in winning at Flemington, pictured above, leading all the way to win for Shane Scriven.

Thumb Up  BB was simply too good but agree Scriven has been a top shelf jockey for many years now.
dd, Wasn't really a good Carnival for the QLD'ers who normally go down south & win everything.  biggrin   At least we got a win with BB.

Another super run by the Baldwin-trained steed.  And another exemplary ride by one Shane Scriven.

Said SS on dismounting:  "I knew I had them struggling about the 800, but he took off about a 100 before I wanted.  I wanted to steer him around the turn.  When he's right he just goooooooes."

The rival jocks knew they were in trouble when Scriven looked around soon after straightening.

Bazza is looking at the Bat out of Hell for BB's next run, then the Lightning.  He'll given them something to catch in Melbourne if he's on song.

Said Bazza yesterday:  "It was a mistake to hold him up in the Newmarket.  Ya just gotta let him run."

Can't wait for the Lightning to see him in Melbourne again.

Newmarket the only blot in his copy book of late - off day or didn't handle the class? It might just get you a decent price if you think the former.

Trainers always have on excuse or another - even if they're beaten fair and square some times.

The trainer is right on this occassion, if he beaten ridden in this manner than so be it.

What class do you have to be to win the NEWMARKET ?

If he has 54kgs does he need as much class as a horse the same age with 58kgs ?

Cal, you might be right, or you might be wrong, but at least what the trainer said is another option.

Your two aren't the only ones.

That's all I'm saying.

In other words, it depends on the weight he gets. You do not need to be group 1 class, to win a Newmarket.

Yeah, the fact BB went within a breath of the course record carrying 58kg confirms he's only Group 2.

What a lot a rot. lol

Could someone provide us with a list of "Group 1" horses currently racing in Australia - but they can't yet have won a Group 1.  Everyone's smart after the event.
