Hit 45.5 - surely that must be close to a record?

Good decision taking into consideration the health of horse, rider and workers on the day ........ the day has got hotter ........
Today is the first of four consecutive days of 40+ temperatures .... that would not be good for the recovery of any players .....

from racing Victoria
As a result of the on-going oppressive weather conditions currently being experienced across Victoria tomorrow’s race meeting set down for Ballarat has been abandoned. "In the interests of health, safety and well being of all horses, jockeys and industry participants we have taken the decision to abandon tomorrow’s Ballarat meeting," said Racing Victoria’s Chief Executive Officer Rob Hines.
The decision follows the postponement of today’s Geelong meeting after six races were run.
"We will monitor the weather patterns on a day by day basis throughout the remainder of the week and ensure we make the right decisions in the interests of all industry participants," Hines said.

Why don't they at least wait til the morning of the meeting, there could be a cool change overnight. Weather forecasts aren't the most accurate thing.
