Courier Mail this morning reports intervention by Bob Bentley into track (cushion) issue in Toowoomba.

Bob has previously stated that QR has made an offer to Toowoomba and it was up to them to accept or decline.

 This mornings story indicates the offer is now accept OR lookout.

I read the article as threatening. mad

Also I query the cost of $10M.  I thought Sunshine Coast was $5M.
Is it inflation. Or Or Or (something else) no honest men aren't into that. nowink

Bob may have to carry out "dates blackmail" threat even with Cushion Track as most trainers are threatening to walk if it is installed. No trainers no racing on cushion.   lol

the usual gutless wonders in the racing world.

Who are these gutless wonders in the racing world that the Ear is referring to;

Not the Jockeys who risk life and limb;
Not the Trainers whose livelihoods are totally dependent on their individual performance;
Not the Owners who send off their cheques every month with little chance of getting any return;
Not the Administrators who put up with being pillored by "know it alls/gooses" on a daily basis;
Not the Punters who donate their hard earned and keep coming back for more;
Not most of the On-course Bookies whose livelihoods are totally dependent on their individual performance;

I can nail it down to some On-course Bookies, all of the Corporate Bookies, maybe some of the TAB managers and most Journalists, I wonder if they are who he is thinking of.

My take is that both parties have submitted new arrangements for meetings, etc, which were linked to the AGM - now adjourned.  (Provision of short-list, ranking by Class A members, etc.)

The Court would have been asked to agree that the new time-lines were acceptable, given that they don't "fit" as per the Constitution.

As you saw, there were no further details provided last night.  Presumably they're known to the parties involved and will come to light in the near future.

But then again, I'm a broken-down punter. Sad

Norton

Dunno why ya asking me that, and I suspect it's a trick question.

Off the top of my head I'd have said Mountbatten.

But I suspect that ain't right.

Good answer DD.  Most punters go there.  Bob Dyer thought similarly when he asked the question of Barry Jones in 1962 on the TV quiz show Pick A Box.

I was just testing your general knowledge as a broken down punter and video watcher.

Of course those in the know would ask, but how can it be Mountbatten (Dickie to his friends)?  He was only the Governor General of Bengal.

Perhaps there was no such position as GG India.

Word has it from Queensland Racing that Bill Ludwig will step down so that Bentley can slot Nev.Stewart on to the Board without having to go to an election.

Anyone see Richard Haynes 'interview' (puff piece) with Bob on 'Connections' last night.

Poor ol' Richie had obviously done zero research on Queensland Racing and served up some lovely lobs for Bob to smash.

Bob took all the credit for what he reckons is good in the Sunshine State including, prizemoney and rather incredibly, the cushion track at Toowoomba.

Kept talking about 2yos racing for $75,000 first prize on Saturdays and $30,000 first prize at the provincials (which isn't true).

Not a word of the gulf, rapidly becoming a chasm, between midweek and provincial prizemoney in Brisbane/Queensland when compared with the southern states.
