Manikato had no problems running a trip.

Given his health issues it just wasn't worth it

mate, i vaguely remember a frank, i had horses at jacks stables in ewan st,
mordialloc when john gave up riding over jumps for des mccormick,
he started training for ted mayes, who owned colvan chips.
he best early horse was HAMLYN, beaut horse..........
anyhow, not sure about FRANK, give me a second name.
JOHN is very close to des okeefe, and pat carey.
  lol   lol  very hurtful baggers................
what i like about you, is ure great sense of humour what

Sorry if i've hurt your feelings mate smiley i just reckon macdonald has fked a potential champion that's all.

I thought it was supposed to be a team, owners, trainer, jockey, apparently not according to you owners are just the dumb mugs there to be ripped off.

My harness trainer is a legend one day ages ago he probably drove our guy not the best so when i rang he goes yeah look i fked up, should've done this or that etc. Then more recently we were talking he goes we're a team, i want the best for everyone if i cant get it out of any horse i'm fine with it being moved on, then he goes some trainers arent like that at all but he has no problem with it.

Now I want to say I reckon that is SPOT ON.

THAT'S a top bloke humble and honest. And because of that I'll back him to the hilt with what little i have to play with.

Two strikes and the Hussler's on thin ice

IS WEEKEND Hussler the equine influenza champ?
The reigning horse of the year was supposed to be the next big thing. The calls that racing had its next Kingston Town were a bit premature but out they went. Judging by recent efforts, Weekend Hussler is well and truly back in the mob, not leading.
It must be remembered he emerged on the Victorian scene around the time equine influenza escaped from a Sydney quarantine centre. Spring had not quite sprung two years ago when equine influenza halted racing in NSW and Queensland.
The hideous disease led to horses in the two states being locked up. Spring campaigns, months in the planning, were abandoned with no one sure when the virus would be eradicated.
And the Hussler fired. He was the feelgood story. The Victorian spring carnival had a superstar.
Weekend Hussler returned last autumn and fired again. Rivals in these parts were still coming to grips with EI. Trainers weren't sure just what impact the disease had on their horses. They may have been allowed to race again but vital racing had been missed as horses were confined to stables.
By season's end Weekend Hussler had accumulated six group 1s including the Randwick Guineas and George Ryder in Sydney. Racing had a super horse. A horse to win the Caulfield Cup, Melbourne Cup, a Cox Plate.
Unfortunately Weekend Hussler came up short in the Caulfield Cup and has flopped in two runs this time in work.
The latest was Saturday's Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley. A poor fifth as a red-hot favourite again. The race was taken out by a rejuvenated Apache Cat. Didn't he turn his form around? He flopped in the Lightning Stakes and improved many lengths to win the Australia Stakes for the second time running.
Good horses can make a mockery of us punters. So, do we write off the Hussler? Remember the odds may be favourable next time round.
Which won't be the case with Samantha Miss. The Newcastle wonder returned to racing with a fast-finishing second in slow going at Randwick at the weekend. The Cox Plate placegetter and VRC Oaks winner is on a staying campaign and the effort in the Light Fingers Stakes confirmed everything was in order. The longer the better for Samantha Miss. Full credit to Light Fingers winner Rock Me Baby, which went into the race rock-hard fit. Five victories from eight starts isn't bad.

So now he was never that good only because all the good ones that he would never have beaten were affected by EI?

Which ones? Honestly, if that has some merit then can people name all the sprint milers in qld/syd that WH would've been beaten by had they been racing?
