whatever happened to good old days........?
knew the bloke that ran the ferntree gully tab.
just go in there, bet in " gregory pecks", and he would whack them in the drawer,
for a week or two, if u went down.
had a bloke a car dealer, when i was training in the 60s,
if i was taking a winner to the races, used to drop off my sparkling HR holden,
 and borrow 500 against it.
pick it up on the way home, and sling him 200.
unfortunately one got beat a lip one day, and bye bye HR.
i think the first wife left next morning to, so i spose was a win to nothing. smiley
 those were the days shy

I was looking at a Miller's Guide and  Marmion won in 1967 but no rider was shown, nor the trainer. Les Carston I think was the trainer. Winged Beauty, a Sydney horse, was 2nd & Cendrillon ran 3rd ..it was trained by R G (Kelly) Chapman.
