Any chance there are a couple of 'urgers' now on this forum?

No names , no packdrill, but I suspect a few posters.

I was taught by my old man "there is no such thing as a free drink on any racetrack". As nobody is "on track" anymore could it be that some of urgers, who once went on track in the old days,  are now on the net and on forums like this? rolleyes

Maybe I am a bit of a sceptic , but surely most connections and/or punters want to get the best odds in their betting and to spruik a horse on a forum will not benefit their cause.

Bubba  this may be true but do most on here take seriously the info that is "secreted" out from stables and disclosed on an open forum.    If you've been in the game long enough is easy to pick the Chaff from the hay.

Where can I get on ? Some of  those corporate bookies would not even bet on the sun not rising tomorrow morning., let alone on whether this forum has an urger or two.

if your silly enough to take a tip and then pay afterwards for the privilege, well what can i say Undecided

also with betfair theres most likely people who would recomend somone takes a certain price they are offering knowing they can do better elsewhere.

wherever there is gambling there will be sharks in the water, dont swim with them and you wont get bitten. Thumb Up

And where is the pay-off from these alleged urgings ? I can't say I ever struck an urger in 1000+ track attendances. More likely to be found in a Dick Francis novel !
Honestly Bubba, I don't see too much tipping here, but if Da Judge labels one, don't  dismiss it lightly. That's my tip info.

Maldivian gone amiss
Clinton Payne
Thursday, 19 February 2009

Cox Plate winner Maldivian has suffered a setback and the star galloper has been ruled out of the autumn carnival.

Maldivian galloped at Flemington this morning in preparation for Saturday's Group II St George Stakes but following the gallop it was apparent the horse had suffered an injury.

“We discovered swelling to his near side front suspensory,” trainer Mark Kavanagh said in a press release.

“We had the leg scanned immediately and it showed a small tear.”

Betting agencies across have reacted to the news and have suspended betting in the Australian Cup.

While disappointed the son of Zabeel will not be running as planned in the Australian Cup, Kavanagh said the injury wasn’t career threatening.

“We caught it all early,” Kavanagh stated.

“The injury is of minor significance.
“Maldivian will be rested immediately and set for the spring.”

Hi ...thank you for having me ....with over 60 years of being a racing man ....raced one we bred by an accident out of a mare we bought for $200 ....only to see her produce prolific winner Seargeant Sam and later a blacktype winner and placing , plus other wins on 3 main Sydney courses......I got out due to what I felt was owners being cannon fodder for tipping Jockeys and trainers ....
That said , many a step by step statement as to everyones views on how to make racing pay.
I do well......learnt the tough way .......so if we ask the questions , I'm sure the people on the forum will do their best to provide an opinion [ everyone is entitled to one ]............So I pose the first question ???.
WHY does 95% of punters lose.......and what are you doing about it ? .....if you are one of them .
With todays opportunities by way of Betfair  type exchanges  and some competition to yesteryears Pirates that losing percentage SHOULD NOT BE ...... lets see what we can do about it .

i think the above post, written by a self proclaimed guru could be viewed by some cynics as being the rantings of a potential urger.
there a couple of posters, that post on here and betfair, that run a subscription service

Lay the horse to lose on Betfair ??
No urgers on tracks ? Yes, probably not in recent years, but there were a team that operated in the old days urging mugs to back horses. If they "got in" enough mugs they often had different mugs backing two or more horses in each race. After a race, if they had urged a mug into a winner, they had them for the day.

Whoever posted that post with the style of writing ( all those.... between posts ) is similar to a poster on Ausrace. Any chance he is the poster who created quite a bit of controversy on that site ?

funny story about pick pockets,2 brothers of eastern bloc descent used to work the city tracks(sydney)anyway they got a 2000 score, but it was from a wrong character so to speak,he mentioned to a mate of his, that got pick pocketed at rosehill, his mate said i know who they are,so the tough guy says, tell them, they hit the wrong guy,his mate tells them who the guy is,pick pockets apologise profusely and say give him this($5000.00) along with our apologies,ps true story
