D. Nikolic (I know his name comes up frequently)..

No Jurisdiction should have done a lot better, now this is one which is purely the jockeys fault not luck related, because he let it go way too late. Not sure it could have beat the winner given the run it had but should have got 2nd at least.

Ganderton inquiry to resume Tuesday
Brad Waters
Monday, 4 January 2010

Queensland Racing stewards have opened an inquiry into apprentice Daniel Ganderton’s handling of classy filly Deer Valley at Saturday’s Gold Coast meeting.

Deer Valley finished sixth after racing at the rear of the field for most of the Coast Tipper Hire Handicap (1200m) before having trouble getting a clear run in the straight.

Ganderton was hauled in by stewards who questioned the jockey on his lack of vigour between the 550 metres and the 350 metres as well as his decision to look for inside runs.

Chief steward Wade Birch adjourned the hearing to inspect betting information and review Deer Valley’s normal racing pattern ahead of the the inquiry resuming on Tuesday morning.

Deer Valley’s trainer Steele Ryan and Ganderton’s new master Paul Messara will also be in attendance on Tuesday.

He certainly has a case to answer for his lack of vigour approaching the straight.

I doubt they can do much about his dicision to ride for luck though ?

I note most of the posts on this subject generally "bag" losing rides. On watching Ashley Thompson win at Wangaratta today I have come to the conclusion he has a lot to learn. A couple of weeks ago I backed a horse he rode and I thought he could not use the whip. He won on a horse today that started at around evens in a seven horse field, was caught wide, lost a length around the turn but still won. I will be a little wary in backing his rides in future.

I agree Matt, was an ordinary ride but I doubt much will come from it.

We've already pointed out the muppet just needed to hook to the outside and have an uniterupted run, if she got beat so be it but to run into plenty of rump up the inside was plain idiotic

whoever Y.VALENTI is in WA avoid this jockey like the plague.

I swear I doubt I've seen a more idiotic, unbalanced,  ride than I just saw in the 2nd at Pinjarra on the toppy and I wasn't even on it.

I BB'd Ocean Cracker
Comment: If not ridden by Valenti

What a terrible ride by 3kg apprentice Kelly Gates on Fleet Baron in the 4th at Coffs Harbour.

The poor thing was burdened with 64kg less the claim and she went out like she was on Star Of Florida and naturally compunded in the straight  Thumb Down

Lightweight apprentices on highly weighted horses: stay out.

I'd have thought he'd want to come back as Nureyev.

D. Dunn pull ya head in, couldnt have ridden Common Interest more confidently if he tried. I'm not blaming him for not having luck with getting runs but far out.

Hope stewards ask questions of Rod Quinn after his ride on Crystal Club at Gosford--realize it got well back last start, but you have to make some effort to make ground before the finish

The caller said she got creamed just after the start.

Was that not so?
